From someone who is gluten free and struggles to find actually good desserts that are FRESH and TASTY, this hits the spot. I got a half dozen of custom donuts with all sorts of combinations, all of which were so good. I visit HHI every year and this will be a spot I will come every year!
The best bakery I’ve been to! Bernie opened her doors with a smile, and from the moment she announced the menu her customers saw her passion on display! Her baked goods were delicious. She’s truly a kind soul with incredible talent. The brownie was the best dessert I’ve tasted.Bernie’s staff is efficient and hardworking. It was refreshing to see a group of teenagers supporting her and working so hard! Bernie worked through the night to prepare goods for the next day, and it’s clear she cares deeply about her work. Get there early because she will sell out, but you won’t find a better person than Bernie or a better bakery than The Purple Cow. It’s going to be a tradition on our HHI trips!
Every time we are in Hilton Head we go to the Purple Cow! Both the kids and adults look forward to all the delicious treats. We get one of everything because we have never been disappointed and don’t want to miss out on a new creation. My favorites are the cinnamon roll and the salted caramel cinnamon roll. I love them so much I had them shipped to me for my birthday; it was so worth it too! I recommend this place to all my friends, family and acquaintances that say they are visiting the island. Get in early because it’s so yummy they sell out fast each day. Also you can place an order the day before via email which comes in handy if you are the bunch that likes to sleep in.
What a cute little bakery and coffee spot! We’ve been coming on vacation to the island for 4 years and just now discovered this place. I believe it was the owner who pleasantly greeted me this morning and explained all of the desserts to me. All of the staff was super nice as well! Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious! We will be back again soon!
Holy cow, so good!! As a family of 6 adults, we preordered our donuts and customized them. Mine was gluten free and it was delicious! Gluten free can be hit or miss sometimes but she nailed it! I wish I had this option back home.
This place was a great find! Donuts were delicious and you get to customize them yourself which was alot of fun! Staff was training and a little slower but super accommodating, helpful, and friendly. The iced cappuccino was also fantastic!
The owner and the people working there care about the products and it shows. Everything is baked fresh on premise and any questions regarding dietary needs are answered. I bought a variety of things and all were fabulous. This is a true gem on the island and shouldn't be missed.
My son and I arrived first. We saw a note on the door saying that they were experiencing a labor shortage and please be patient and kind. That’s typical everywhere now so we weren’t bothered by it. Our first encounter was with the owner. She needed to take her own suggestion of patient and kind to heart. I have never seen such rude behavior in a place of business. At first I thought that maybe the customer in front of us had been giving her a hard time so that’s why she was so rude to them. Then I realized she was treating everyone that way. By the time our other eight family members arrived I had been on the receiving end of her rudeness and eye rolling, so we just left.
We had an EXCELLENT experience at the purple cow! This is a one woman show doing it all!!! We were there kinda early and she was almost sold out! She had made tons of goodies for the day, they were just gobbled up that fast, because those that know…. Get there early! She literally can’t make things fast enough. Everything we got was yummy and unique… her baked warmed donuts with custom icing are so unique. Go early or order the day before because her oven can only bake so much, you don’t want to miss out. Next time we will order the day before. The owner was definitely tired as she had just finished the Easter weekend, but she was kind and enthusiastic about her art. She was very thankful that we stopped in to see her and try her goodies. ??????
Butterscotch cheesecake was super rich.Crack was better cold.The donut was not like a traditional donut. Treated like cake.
