After a day of golf, we dined at Fraser's Tavern. Beautiful restaurant with a good menu and delicious food.
Beautiful night Beautiful company Beautiful Feature Entree. Pan seared halibut perfect sear and wonderfully moist. The garnishment of humus, artichokes, Currant tomatoes et al was perfect for the entree. The only shortcoming was no bread of any sort ... a pita bread would have made this entree a complete 5 star!
The bad experience started with the host who seemed annoyed that we were there, he barely acknowledged we were speaking to him before seating us (family of four with two children). We were then seated outside where the TV needs to be replaced (was hoping to watch the final day of the Open). Our service was very poor. I asked for a draft menu, she gave me a beer menu, I ordered, and she brought canned beer. Not a huge deal had I been told ahead of time… she checked on us 2 times in 90 minutes of being seated. Never offered a water refill. To top it off, food was brought to three folks at our table, but not the fourth. It took about ten minutes for her to realize this (again, little attention), then she brought the wrong entree… we stayed patient but then about 15 minutes later I informed her I no longer wanted my entree and asked for a check. Overall the service was terrible and the restaurant felt unwelcoming. There are many alternatives on this island, I will not be back.
Y’all. Okay so - the food was amazing. The atmosphere … chef kiss**. Brannon the bartender? 100% going back. This guy was AMAZING. Best green tea shots we’ve ever had, great personality, overall incredible time. 12/10. Also… get the southwestern egg rolls. You won’t regret it.
The food wasn’t bad but nothing to rave about. My Caesar salad wasn’t cut up. It was strange…looked like the Romane just came out of a bag and was put on my plate. My son ordered NY strip which was very, very fatty, and because the plates are so small for the portion, he almost lost it a few times trying to cut it. The server was very nice but slow and not very attentive, I’m guessing due to staffing and no fault of his. It was a long wait for drinks, food and a very long wait for check. Good enough I guess, but I wouldn’t go back.
There was nothing that stood out about this meal apart from the lack of service. We were a large party and sitting outside was a nice option. The food was ok, not the best meal of my life but not the worst either. The Sea Pines Resort seems to be struggling with properly training waitstaff. When our drinks were brought to our table they were auctioned off, you just took our order! A lot of people in our party ordered the NY Strip and once again we were met with wait staff auctioning off steaks but not paying attention the temperature of the steaks so everyone’s steaks were messed up. We had to ask for refills or additional rounds of drinks. All in all it was just and underwhelming experience.
First we have to give a shout-out for when we were delayed on our arrival day and Fraser’s was extremely accommodating in letting us come late; we didn’t realize we had stayed well past closing time until we left. Never felt like service was pushing us out. The pulled pork, brisket chili, nachos, ribs, and mac and cheese were all excellent. Beer selection is great. The brisket itself was on the dry side and the wings were so-so, but everything—and everyone—else was so great we didn’t even mind.
Appetizers were great, fish and chips were amazing along with the shrimp and rice bowl! Server was very quick on the drinks and food was delivered fairly promptly. Jumbo pretzels are great!
