Annie O’s is the ONE place we visit twice each trip down here. Whether it’s dining in and enjoying the quaint & rustic atmosphere, or ordering takeout, this gem-of-a-place is second to none. The owner, Jim, offers an incredible menu full of choices that appease everyone in our family and at a great value. Chicken and French Toast, the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich and Grilled Cheese are our favorites but frankly, everything is delicious. The sweet potato mash, homemade chips and the “deconstructed” desserts are must-haves as well!! This is a no-fuss and super cool place that feels good to support. Lunch yesterday was amazing and we look forward to returning at least once more before heading back home.

We were at Annie Os for dinner last evening. While the food was good, certainly not the most memorable of our trip and certainly not the best especially for the $$. I was a bit surprised to be charged $4.50 for a lemonade refills for myself and my daughter... so $18 for the two of us to have a lemonade & a refill. Every other place we were at on the island provided free refills. So our experience while fine wasn't memorable for the right reasons.

Good food. Meatloaf is made with choice cuts of beef and is out of this world. Cole slaw was ok - greyish appearance and too much vinegar for my liking. House salad was great as well as dressing. Biscuits are incredible.

I've been wanting to try Annie O's Kitchen for a while. I'm always looking for a good place to enjoy fried chicken, and Annie O's has appeared on a few published lists of places that serve it. So, my wife and I gave it a try and we're glad we did.We arrived for dinner at 5:00 and the restaurant was empty at that time. It got busier while we were there, and by 6:00 the place was nearly full. We were escorted to a table next to an attractive wall made with wooden produce crates from San Jose, California. We are native Southern Californians, so found these California crates intriguing. After all, San Jose is about 3,000 miles from Hilton Head Island. We wondered what the story was concerning the crates. How did they get here? Why California crates in South Carolina? Well, I did a quick Google search and discovered that Zoria Farms, the brand stamped on the crates, closed in 2008, so their stock of old crates are available for purchase online. So, mystery is solved.Anyway, I digress. We found the interior of Annie O's to be simply but tastefully decorated with a southern "farm" feel. It was clean and pleasant. The interior is actually more appealing than the exterior. The outside is rather nondescript. But just as you can't judge a book by its cover, you can't always judge a restaurant by its exterior.I ordered what I came for: fried chicken. It comes with a biscuit and two sides. The sides I chose were collard greens and sweet potato mashers. My wife ordered jumbo chicken strips with sweet potato mashers and homemade baked beans. My chicken was very good. It had a beautiful crunchy exterior and the meat was cooked perfectly, done but not dried out. The chicken had a slight tangy taste to it, which I assume is from soaking in buttermilk before cooking it. The sides were all excellent. My wife really enjoyed the baked beans, and I thought that the collard greens and sweet potato mashers were both very flavorful and complimented the fried chicken perfectly. My wife ordered a lemonade and I got an unsweetened iced tea to accompany our meals. Both were very good. The lemonade was just the right balance of sweet and tart, and my iced tea was crisp and clean. Our server was pleasant and proficient, the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and my wife and I agreed that we would enjoy a return visit. Although the chicken was good, there are some other dishes I'd like to explore: meatloaf, chicken 'n dumplings, and shrimp and grits. They all sound delicious!

It's been a little bit since we've been to Annie O's and I must say... Sweet Mary Mother of Gawd, Thank you for taste buds. The bar selection could use a little somethin-somethin... but hey, they got some adult beverages, Yay. The food is really delicious. We started off with the deviled eggs... Jeepers... just order them and thank me later. I got the fried chicken dinner with collards and sweet potato mash. My partner in crime ordered the Nashville hot chicken with Mac n Cheese and baked beans. We are still weeping that it's over... seriously the food is delicious... and just ask for a to go box up front... the portions are enough for two meals!

Great southern cooking; great service, great everything!

We had a group of 8 and had excellent friendly service and all the food was great. Highly suggest the pulled pork and the Nashville hot chicken!!!

We really enjoyed our lunch here. There was no wait. You order at the counter for lunch. Food was freshly prepared and served promptly. It was piping hot and delicious. We had a chicken club, fish sandwich, burger and Fried green tomato BLT. Everything was quite good. Then, for dessert, we had a coconut cream and a banana pudding mason jar - yummy! Andrea was the sous chef, the cashier and the server and she was friendly and did a great job! We are only here for 5 more days but we may just eat here again! It is a short walk from the Motorcoach Resort where we are staying.

As always, every thing we ordered was fantastic!! I highly recommend the Nashville Hot Chicken and their Keylime Pie!! Service is always gracious and professional. One of the best kept secrets on the island.
