Casual setting with amazingly good seafood! We were visiting from out of state, our friends that brought us here told us that in many years of dining here, they've never had a bad meal. All 5 of us were thrilled with our food. Very fresh!!! The service was attentive and friendly. Definitely coming back here the next time I'm in town!!

After decades eating at the Flounder we tried the Tadpole. The shrimp, flounder and Calabash chicken were AWESOME! As were all of the sides.Spend a couple of extra minutes driving and you won't be disappointed. Not only was the food great, the portions were huge!Absolutely the best fish camp in the upstate!
My husband & I went to The Tadpole mainly for the scallops. They are usually big, tender & juicy. These were far from it! The scallops were very small like okra & they were very rubbery. I don’t know if we will come back again. Such a shame. Some things you don’t skrimp on & the scallops are one.
I only gave two stars because the staff was super friendly! What I ordered was not it smh . I ordered calabash shrimp, and usually that consists of huge fried shrimp, not here!I got shrimp particles , and we drove 45 minutes for crab legs, that they no longer serve , due to price inflation.I'm assuming they were just having a bad night, because I've only heard great things about this place.
Had an amazing dinner guys, thank you for the hospitality. Seeing the kids in there, enjoying being able to do their part, was priceless. Folks, the feeling of, "family", in a place like this is something you must experience.Much love and respect to you all
It was freezing cold inside. I mean colder than outside. How is that even possible. And we all had sweaters on. They set us in the very back of the restaurant. Like literally there was a wall separating the back from the whole restaurant. Apparently it's where they have groups and parties. There were only 3 of us and a lot of empty tables throughout the restaurant. When we asked why they would skip 10 free tables to put us in the very back of the restaurant where we can't even see other people or the restaurant itself...we were told that I server had just started her shift and they were trying to give her some tables. Very awkward and I don't even want to mention what I felt like the reason was. 2 out of our 3 plates was ice cold. They did not make the food fresh. I ordered the captains platter which literally had the most food on the menu...it all came out so fast...there was no way it was cooked fresh. Even our french fries were cold. Not lukewarm from sitting under a heat lamp or something...just cold. The other plate has piping hot fish because she ordered cod and they had clearly just made it. I had been wanting to try this place for months since I'm new to the area and they have a good selection of seafood. Definitely disappointed. Every other seafood place has been better...by far. Would not recommend and would not go back. If you're looking for good fresh seafood...go to New England Seafood instead.
Had the captains plate and a side of scallops.Portions are great. Get a lot for the money. Its good value. Service is great as well. Staff was friendly and food came out fast and at decent temperature. Nice and hot.Reason for two stars is that for my taste food was overly fried and dry. In a nutshell everything was overcooked. Scallops where ok for fake scallops.As long as expectations are not high, I think its a great family restaurant to hang out with friends and loved ones.I wish the food was prepared a bit differently. At least what I had.
I'm so disappointed! I spent way too much for the little bit of food we got. We ordered 2 large shrimp plates and they put it all in one box. There's only a handful of shrimp if that much. I used to love eating from here. I don't know that I'll be back for a while. I wish it would allow me to post a picture but for some reason I can't. Do BETTER TADPOLE!
I could have had better fish if I ate it straight from a pond, the food was so bland… tea tasted like tea bag water.. only upside was the great service…
