If you're looking for cheap, no-frills, country cooking with a cafeteria-line style of ordering, Laurenda's may be for you. This is a typical "meat-and-two" vegetable place. Mostly fried country food, like country-fried steak, fried chicken, liver, meat loaf, etc. Sides include Mac & cheese, collards, and other country sides. Pies and cake for dessert. Friendly service. Plenty of parking.
My friend took me there for lunch. This was my first time there. It's cafeteria style dining which is much more sanitary than an open Buffet. They had so many delicious looking items to pick from. I took a little of almost everything because I couldn't decide. I had a pork chop, sauteed chicken tenders, smoked sausage, collard greens and cabbage. This was home cooking like you've never had. Everything was cooked to perfection. They also have a salad bar. Two meals, a desert and two drinks came to $24. I strongly recommend you try this place. If I lived closer I would be going four times a week.
I stopped in for lunch and decided to give the country-fried steak, mac and cheese, and rice a try. Upon arrival, you'll stand in a cafeteria styled serving line to pick your food. Afterwards you can feel free to pick any seat you'd like. The food was outstanding! My country-fried steak was so tender, I was able to cut it with my fork easily. The mac and cheese was really delicious and the rice was perfectly cooked. I arrived a little before 11, so I beat the lunch rush, but by the time I was leaving, the line was getting long. They are usually pretty busy around lunch, so get there early.
Looks like a hole in the wall but it is delicious! Laurenda's also catered my sister's wedding and did a phenomenal job.
I was looking for some local southern cooking. I am so happy I found Laurenda's. Walk through cafeteria line, which I thought was cool because you get to see the food right in front of you. Kind greetings and smiles from everyone working there. The fried chicken (some of the best I ever had) and the sweet potato casserole were amazing. No frills simple place, but the food speaks for itself.
Unfortunately, this is the one wedding vendor that I will NOT be recommending. We paid for enough for for more than were at our wedding and still ran out with about 20 people not fed. That is unacceptable considering how much we paid. I expected a lot more from the team and Laurendas and entrusted my wedding day food in their hands, biggest mistake looking back. We paid for a buffet style (recommended by them) with beef tenderloin, shrimp and grits, 3 sides and a salad. I was told after that self serve is “risky” and that my guests we’re getting “more than normal” and that is why we ran out. So be careful when you go with their recommended buffet style and make sure people are allowed to have more than 2 shrimp for $43 a person. The staff was pretty young and not the most experienced in my opinion. If people were supposed only have two shrimp then they should have told me and I would have paid for more or they could’ve served it so at least everyone could’ve had some. They did bring in some chicken tenders towards the end to try to make up for it, better than nothing but not what I paid for. I was told over and over again that there would be plenty of food and leftovers so I thought planning for a just few more guests than we had was overkill, but I was wrong! The food still tasted good from my perspective (wish everyone could’ve tried it) so that is why I am throwing in a couple stars. A couple of other things to note: if they do your wedding the day after another one at the same venue ask for new table cloths on the food tables & if it’s prom season you may need to specify that you would not like people there taking prom photos less than an hour before you walk down the aisle :)
Never Have I ever had 1 negative experience until tonight after picking my son and granddaughter up after work. Laurenda's has ALWAYS been the best of everything. But the greens, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy down to the batter for the chicken had so much salt content. I literally had to pick through what I could eat due to heart issue's. This Sweet and gifted Lady is definitely missed.
Laurenda’s catered our wedding this past weekend and they truly helped make our vision come to life. Not only is their food DELICIOUS and all of the guests continued to say so, but their presentation was absolutely beautiful. They were so intentional with asking what our flower arrangements and color themes were so they could match their decor with our big day, and it came out so beautifully. The staff was so wonderful, and I could not be happier with how everything went. If you are looking for a caterer, look no further!
Very nice. Great food, and customer service. I will definitely go back. Tip for others if your going on Sunday just know there will be a line due to the church crowd, but it's worth the wait.
Laurendas is a great place to eat supper after a long day at work. It’s also a great place for lunch on Sunday after Church! And they will do the dishes!
