Tuesday 6/28/2022 Ordered my usual, filet mignon + Hibachi Chicken with fried rice and veggies.Unfortunately, the steak was so hard and chewy that the texture was like beef jerky and it tasted waxy, as though it had been dropped into a melted candle. It was the weirdest and most awful meat I ever tasted, this isn’t normal for Oriental House. ((By the way, I had ordered it Hibachi, but they gave it to me drenched in teriyaki sauce))Usually, my food is good at Oriental House, so I’m really not sure what happened but it was the worst food I ever got from there, very very bad. This makes me not want to go back! :(
Seriously, Oriental House?!? Quit being so stingy with the white sauce. This is the second time it's been an issue for me. I spent $20 on a tempura sushi roll, house salad, and shrimp spring rolls and wanted a white sauce for my spring roll and was told it was extra AFTER I HAD PAID FOR MY MEAL. The hostess actually made me run my credit card a second time for $0.54 to buy white sauce. Didn't it used to just be on the table in a squeeze bottle??? If you're not going to offer it anymore to customers that have been around forever then maybe when the "server/hostess" takes an order they might need to ask if any sauces are needed so you don't irritate people. The first time I had spent over $80 on 4 hibachi dinners for DELIVERY and we got NO WHITE SAUCE AT ALL. It was very disappointing. So I called and was told it was my fault because I didn't ask for any. WHAT? Even Joy of Tokyo provides it by default so maybe I should order from them. Also.....what is with all the wasteful plastic to-go containers for dine in? Not very environmentally friendly and the dining room looked very trashy. I think I'm finally so irritated with this location that I won't be back. It's too bad because y'all used to rock.
Best tasting hibachi and Chinese take out option I have found in the area. Same applies to the woodruff Rd location. Prices are a little high so a meal from here is more of a treat to myself type of meal than an automatic Chinese food option. However, the food is fresh and taste good.... and it comes how you ordered it. I've only had them make a mistake once in the 5 years I've been eating here. Love the seafood rolls! Also have had the sesame chicken which was good but my number 1 is the hibachi filet and shrimp with hibachi rice and hibachi vegetables! It's my favorite meal to order anywhere in Greenville after having a rough week. There might be better out there but I have tried quite a few and have been disappointed with my meal at almost all of them. This one is guaranteed to be fresh and good tasting so at the end of the day, yes they are a little pricey but, you get what you pay for. I would wholeheartedly recommend if you are looking for quality, real ingredient based Chinese food that's not just a flavorless sauce over grease with either mushy rice or rice Jerry. I really like the food here.
I do not recommend delivery as they never include the sauces. We have been going there since it opened years ago and get take out. We always check the bags and have to ask for the correct amount of sauces. I have ordered delivery for my mother a number of times now and they have left out sauces each time. I called and the manager told me that the the employee said she put all sauces in the bag which she obviously did not. Just so aggravating!
The food is always good and they do a good job with such a limited staff. Worth a visit for sure.
I was dissapionted last time because the food was below average. Soup had no flavor, too much noodles and few vegetables.
Eat local! It’s always good. Very consistent.
Ordered takeout from here through a courier, specifically asked for no sauce and to include utensils. I know the restaurant knew to include utensils because they called me being unable to conceive of me not wanting any sauce and just meat and veg. No utensils despite that.
Tonight was the worse experience I have ever had with this location I have always supported this establishment but I am reluctant to use the one on Augusta rd.I have never had a bad experience from the woodruff road store.anyway. the picture below are what my Togo food looked like..I heard the workers behind the counter saying something about the lids on the Togo containers for the sauces . I didnt pay attention but what a mess. The chicken lomaine was turned over in the bag and the white sauce and teriyaki sauce you can see in the photos what a mess.. I wont go to the Augusta road store. It's worth the drive to go to the woodruff store. Or just find something else.
I LOVE THIS PLACE
