We had dinner there tonight for my husbands birthday … what a disappointment! We’ve been looking forward to dinner tonight, and we surely weren’t prepared for such a bad experience. It was so hot in the dining area that it was almost sickening. The thermostat was beside our table, and the temperature in there was almost 90 degrees! When they turned the grill on, it got even hotter. Then comes the “chef”. Maybe he was new, but he did a bad job and didn’t seem to know what he was doing. It was so hot, we couldn’t eat anyway. $92. later for 4 of us, we were happy to get out of there! Seems someone should tell you when you make your reservation that the air isn’t working, or at least when you arrive they should tell you. The waiting area is a bit cooler so you won’t know until you’re seated. Overall, a complete disaster. Based on our experience tonight, that was our last visit.
Awesome experience both times I went this month. The Chef was very entertaining and cooked excellent hibachi. Was very personable and server and staff very attentive. Great experience both times excellent portions. Definitely will be back .
The flavor of this place is great. The portion sizes however have been dramatically reduced and the prices have risen. I expect the price to follow the rest of the market and rise but I also expect to receive the same portion of food that I always have. Rice portions are half what they used to be, go to Miyabi’s. (Update) 4 hours after posting this I’m having major stomach issues after going here, wouldn’t recommend.
Waited a long time to get our drive order. And even longer time for the cook. He was nice but not a people person. Everyone can’t be lol. Food took a bit longer than usual. The waitress didn’t even come back for refills.
Great food & our Chef was Great!!!
4/13/22 Our server Sean was wonderful! He took our drink & food order and answered all our questions. He was friendly and courteous and got everything right. Our drink choice was called the "Hulk" which was a blend of Malibu Rum. Midori, Vodka & Pineapple Juice. We ordered the Filet Mignon, Scallops, Shrimp and Chicken combination dinners with an extra side of broccoli & carrots. The meal also included a broth soup garnished with mushroom and green onions & a basic lettuce/carrot salad, & grilled zuchini & onions, we chose fried rice as a side. The chef had an engaging funny dialogue with us during the cooking. He also decorated the large rectangular block of fried rice to resemble Sponge Bob Square Pants for children at our table. The steak was cooked just as we like it and was tender & juicy. The chicken, scallops and shrimp were perfectly grilled too. We had white sauce, mustard, bbq and ginger sauces to complement the meat and vegetables. We had a lovely couple at our table whom we loved meeting and talking to durin our meal.Tef
Kanapi totally took my food sensitivities seriously and made sure I could eat everything that was served. The server Jenna checked with management for what ingredients are in the dressings. The chef Jose that came out and cooked our food talked with me about what I could eat and even made my food on the grill first so there would be no cross contamination. I felt SO cared for! And was so happy I could eat normally with my family without having to bring any of my own food or sauces from home. ❤️❤️❤️
When we arrived at 5:30 on Friday night we couldn't tell if they were open or closed. There was only one other car in the parking lot. When we entered there was no ody in the waiting area or at the Hostess stand. After standing there for 2-3 minutes someone came and sat us and to my surprise there was 10 other customers in the dinning area. The service was very quick and the chef started cooking right after the soup. I took my wife and 3 kids. My 4 year old doesn't remember ever going to eat Hibachi and the chef had a great time entertaining her and that made my night. The food and service was an absolute 10 The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because of the way the building and the inside of the building looked. I know that the building has been there for a long time but most places put money back into the building to keep it looking new. When I went into the bathroom The doors to the cupboards were falling off and hanging there and the place just looked run down. The food was fabulous and I got so much food that I ate on it for 3 days. My to-go box probably weighed 5 lb. The chef did a fantastic job entertaining all of the kids at the table. I don't think I will ever go somewhere and get that type of service again because it was terrific
On our most recent visit, we enjoyed all that Kanpai has to offer, great food, great service. The surroundings leave a lot to be desired. They really need to renovate and bring their restaurant up to date. Other than that, they still serve the best food! I’ll be going back soon! C. A . Jones
This place used to be amazing, but it appears it has gone downhill in a hurry. We sat at the bar and waited over ten minutes to get our menus, another ten-to-fifteen minutes to get our order taken and then over an hour to actually get our food. We were not offered any apology for our wait or given any reason why it was taking so long. When it did arrive, the chicken was lukewarm as if the plate had been sitting in the kitchen and no one bothered to bring it out.I did overhear the server saying to another customer that the cooking staff had been repeatedly botching orders. If that's the case, perhaps more training is needed or Kanpai needs to raise the bar on who they decide to hire. I realize help is hard to come by right now, but this whole experience was completely inexcusable.
