Cashey, who checked us is, was very helpful and informative! The staff at Vic’s were great and steered us to great choices for our meal. This is a neat hotel and if we come back through Florence we will stay here! There is free parking across the street at no cost!

We reserved here because it advertised a spa and an in-hotel restaurant. Spa was booked. Restaurant required reservations and was booked. We did decide to eat sitting at the bar and the service and food was excellent. Parking was across the street from the hotel which was very inconvenient. The room was small, but okay. However, it was 66 degrees in the room when we got there! Who sets a thermostat at 66? Even with shutting off the ac by setting it at 75, the room only got to 68 overnight. I decided to warm up by taking a nice hot shower except that the shower never got above barely lukewarm even turned all the way to hot. This is not up to Hilton standards at all. It really soured us on Tapestry Hotels.

My husband surprised me for my birthday with a night at the Hotel Florence. The hotel is leading the renaissance of downtown Florence. The lobby is nice and the young lady who checked us in was great. If you don’t mind squeaky original yellow pine floors, then you will enjoy the charm of building. Our room was small, but nicely done with a very comfortable bed. My only complaint is that we were facing the street on a Saturday night, so it was a little noisy with the traffic and loud radios. This is out of the control of the hotel and if I stayed there again, I would request to not to be on that side. As mentioned, there are no closets, but they did have hanging racks which worked well for an overnight stay. The courtyard area adjacent to the park is really nice. We ate at Vic’s for dinner on the patio and had a great meal. The front desk staff is really nice and were excited to talk about the hotel and what Florence has to offer. We enjoyed our night at the hotel. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Previous reviews mention no closets, drawers, or luggage racks -- ACCURATE Previous reviews mention strong musty/damp smell -- ACCURATE Previous reviews mention great, walkable location -- ACCURATE Previous reviews mention quality of construction concerns such as flaking caulk in bathrooms and sloppy paint jobs on windows -- ACCURATE Previous reviews mention "no parking" -- we had no problem with abundant free parking in the garage accessible from the back door. Maybe they need to advertise it better? Previous reviews mention "hit or miss" experiences in the restaurant - our food was very good at dinner. The next morning "specialty coffees" (aka espresso) was not available??? -- ACCURATE To the above I would add: 1) Service: the same people at the desk and at the bar at 11pm on day one; would be the same people at the desk/bar at 8am the next morning-- there's something wrong with that. They were all polite, but run ragged. Hilton needs to do something about the wages and recruiting efforts. I dont want to feel like a slave driver at a Tapestry hotel. Everyone should be well rested, well paid, and have high standards of personal grooming. 2) Service again: at a Tapestry hotel you're telling me "complimentary" cleaning service is available by request only, if you request it by 8am? Give me a break. We did request it-- and it did not happen. Fix your staffing problems with better wages. 3) Security: each morning we were there all the rooms that were being cleaned (including ours) were left dead bolted open and unsupervised. Unacceptable. All the staff we encountered (except one lady at the restaurant who was grouchy and clearly exhausted from overwork) were polite.

Surprisingly upscale with great accommodations and the PERFECT LOCATION. The front desk was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We needed to extend our stay by a day and they worked tirelessly to try to accommodate us; even checking in with me that evening and the next morning. AWESOME customer service. I also had a couple of room type/location requests with my reservation and they satisfied each request. King room was spacious, modern, clean with beautifully renovated exposed brick and high ceilings. King bed was plush and felt heavenly. Previous comments about lack of storage/closet space are true, but we were only there for a weekend so didn't need much. There's an inviting sitting area in the lobby, which is open and airy. Great sunlit area to have morning coffee or stop in the evening just before going out. I was there at 7:30am or so and it was already being sanitized. I was in and out during the day and each time I came back someone was always there wiping down elevator buttons, table surfaces, door handles and even the floor. Great job! Small, well-stocked canteen in the lobby and there are couple of chic restaurants, shops and live band entertainment all within 1 or 2 blocks. Literally everything is in walking distance. Victors is the onsite restaurant and we didn't get a chance to eat there, but everyone raved about the food; great for brunch or dinner. Without question this is our go-to hotel when in Florence!

What a great property. I’ve never been so surprised by a small town hotel. The attention to detail in the restoration of this old building was spectacular. Not a bit of the charm from the original wood floors to exposed brick was lost. At the same time the modern amenities like the single room hvac unit were tastefully integrated. The staff was helpful and extremely hospitable. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in a while. Scrambled eggs with provolone as and option! Are you kidding me? Loved that. The lounge and restaurant were so well decorated in the best of traditions. These guys even had additional sweetening options for “in room” coffee like Equal and Splenda instead of just the usual sugar and saccharine sealed packet. And even real cups of liquid cream. The developer, owner, manager and staff deserve tremendous praise. Stay here if you are ever in Florence. (South Carolina that is).

My wife and I had a long drive the day we stayed at the Hotel Florence. I resisted the urge to book a Hilton property proximate to I-95 entirely due of the prospect of relaxing in a highly rated and presumably upscale on-site bar and restaurant after a long day in the car. The Tapestry Collection moniker usually indicates a "nicer" and somewhat sophisticated experience. We checked in around 5:45 PM and were assigned Rm 208. The door was unlocked/open with the deadbolt extended, something I'd never experienced before - especially in this era of "certified cleanliness." Next morning, I discovered that the coffee maker reservoir was filled with brown water and unusable. I reported both to the front desk. The King Room touting extra storage space was tiny; the smallest I've ever encountered at a Hilton property. It had no closet, bureau or mini-fridge. We were only staying one night; a longer stay would have been a problem. We had dinner in the casual section of Vic's/Victors. Turned out to be a mistake. The service and food were excellent; the ambience, not so much. Shortly after we were served, 14 young kids sat at the large table six feet from the bar (and us). Bar stools were removed from the bar to seat all the kids. Several adults walked into the bar, turned around and walked out. The kids were being kids. Fair enough, but our expectations of a quiet dinner followed by cocktails at the bar went up in smoke. At the waitress' suggestion, we took our drinks upstairs. With one chair in a tiny room, that was awkward. When I mentioned to the waitress that I thought the whole scenario was wrong, she explained that Vic's is a family restaurant. I get that, but a family restaurant to me indicates parents and their children having dinner, not fourteen 10-12 year-olds sitting six feet from the bar. I've been a Hilton Honors member for many years and on the rare occasion that I feel compelled to share something not entirely positive, it never goes beyond Hilton. This an exception because I asked to speak to the manager while we were there, without success. I asked for his card and was given his email address on a scrap of paper and followed up with an email. Never got a response. After a week I called to confirm the email address and was told he would call me; never did.

Hotel room design is lacking in both closet and dresser for clothing storage. There is none provided. There is also no mini-fridge for medicine or drink storage. The toiletries are limited and what is provided was partially used. Parking is as you can find it on the street in the town of FLorence. You will have to carry your bag into the hotel from your parking spot. Website stated covered parking available which is a block away and shared with a condo complex. Hilton should be embarrassed by their property offering. Only two positive is that it was very clean and front desk staff were super nice.

This is a downtown 'boutique' hotel in an old building. Keeping that mind...it's drafty and the floors creek, but that adds to the character. The staff was super nice and accommodating. We loved the on site restaurant. A few criticisms. There is no Valet Parking even though it is downtown. The public parking is limited. On our first day it was totally full behind the building and the only open spots in the across the street lot were a long way away. I would of happily paid for Valet service. There was no in room refrigerator. Being insulin dependent I had to get creative to keep my meds cool. That's always fun. Overall we were there to visit family and would stay here again. The location was fabulous for our needs.

My coworkers were looking for a one night stay in Florence, and this ended up being a real treat. Hilton rooms are old, but the good kind of old, you know? I wish I got his name, but the brother working behind the front desk that afternoon was one of the coolest people I’ve ever talked to at a Hilton. It’s the best kind of service to have someone be a professional and cut up at the same time. The only downside in my experience was the gym there is almost none existent. It felt like a broom closet with some dumbbells and a couple treadmills. Also parking is difficult to find for anyone coming with a large vehicle with an attachment (Ex: a trailer). Overall, I would stay again and explore the spa and restaurants surrounding the hotels. It was a fun stay and my coworkers and I enjoyed our stay.
