Loved this bar. Have to say, we chose to go here because of the appearance and the free parking. There is a back deck, the side deck and a front deck. We went inside and sat at the back bar. Now, I love a good bar and this place I loved. Andrew was the perfect bartender, very attentive, personable, knowledgeable. Food was great, prices very reasonable, atmosphere dive-ish. Lots of good draft beers, good selection of liquor. The best thing, however, was the clientele. I loved the diversity. 20 somethings to 80 somethings, black and white. Everyone having a great time and enjoying being there. I don't live in Columbia but if I did this might be my favorite place. Thoroughly enjoyed.
I had always wanted to visit the Salty Nut, so I took the opportunity to treat my visiting relatives on Memorial Day Weekend. The parking lot was pretty large and nearly full, which is a good sign for any business. There were 9 of us, including 3 youngsters, so we asked if we could be seated on the porch. Without any hesitation, a table was quickly and cheerily set up for us----and bags of peanuts were facing us. We were told to just toss the shells on the floor, which set up a party mood. Casual-eating menus were brought to us, and our server Katherine W introduced herself. We were lucky to have her wait on us. She was so friendly and so patient with the 9 of us! Despite our slowness and confusing requests, she never seemed the least bit bothered. She always made us feel relaxed and welcome. During our 1 + hours, she returned several times to be sure that all was going well. She was very attentive, but she never hovered. Most of our family has been in the restaurant business for a couple of decades now, and we are very sensitive to both staff quality and to food quality. This evening, we were definitely faced with winners. By the way, prices were very reasonable, portions were generous, and chicken wings were sizeable & delicious. We'll be back again!
Very comfortable college town / sports bar atmosphere with inside and outside spaces where we found a friendly and attentive staff and a nice crowd of customers during our visit. Good selection of beers and drinks and the food was great.... We had the nachos which were plentiful and a very memorable burger that I would get again (although everything looked good on the menu so I will probably work my way through the other offerings too). They also have their own parking lot which is a plus for the Five Points area.
Have been eating here for years. The service has never been great, but the food is good which is why we have continued to go. The past few trips the service has been horrible. Usually wait 10 minutes for anyone to even approach you. Sat there today for well over an hour after ordering. Asked if they knew how much longer then food would be and they said they haven’t even started making it. Definitely the last chance. Seems like they just don’t care about quality service.
Came for the name, stayed for the food. Low and behold, when you sit down, they give you some salty nuts. Don't tell the waitress though, it seems that they're already aware. Really cool little college dive bar with good food. I got a spicy chicken sandwich with spicy pimento and it hit the spot. I could see this place being my go to if I was a local.
Is go there on a Monday there's beef quesadillas are awesome
Food never came + manager was intoxicated… dirty
Quite possibly the greatest dive bar of all time.
The food was good and the people were friendly. Burger tasted authentic. Highly recommended
Awesome bartenders. And a nice chill spot after work
