My family and I were in Columbia to go to the children’s museum and stopped in for lunch. Going to a pizza/Italian place was a bit brave with my daughters allergies (dairy and egg among others) but we decided to brave it anyway. We ordered my daughter pasta with red sauce and French fries, my son ordered his new favorite pizza of cheese and mushrooms on cauliflower crust and my husband and I split a large pizza with thick crust that had pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and garlic. Our waitress was Sydney and she was fantastic. Friendly, quick, gave great tips/warnings about the food (the “chicago” wasn’t really truly Chicago. Very good but technically not a Chicago deep dish) so our expectations were accurate and could pick better and was excellent with my daughters allergies. We obviously mentioned the allergies in conversation but we forgot to explicitly say “no Parmesan on the pasta” as it’s common to sprinkle Parmesan over pasta. We don’t eat out much because of her allergies and drop the ball sometimes. Sydney does not! She had already noted the allergies on the meal ticket for the kitchen and the kitchen was on top of it when she went to double check when we realized we forgot to be explicitly clear. The food came out in a reasonable time frame and everything was correct. And everything tasted great. We are already planning our next trip.
I cannot call it authentic Chicago pizza but atmosphere was great.I was born and raised in Chicago Illinois. I selected this place because I wanted a taste of home. The menu was professional, and I enjoyed the build your pizza option. although the service was good the quality of the pizza cannot be held up to authentic Chicago pizza.HOWEVER, I did enjoy the atmosphere in this restaurant. I had a great conversation with an old friend. Plenty of tvs to watch sports. I would recommend this place to anybody. Just know that it is not authentic Chicago pizza but the menu is still solid.
The service and the food were great. I was amazed how tasty the pizza and nachos were. This was our first visit, and we will be back.
I ordered a $26 Thick Pan crust pizza. My friend ordered the thin crust. They were exactly the same. Very disappointed. Server said something about the way the dough rose ??♀️. The pizza was good but not what I thought I was getting. And definitely not worth the price I paid.
After a long day of traveling, my family was drawn to Old Chicago to grab some dinner before finishing our trip! It was the best decision we made! The pizzas were delicious and the two who ordered lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs cleared their plates! Also, our server was really nice and energetic.
Looking for a relaxing dinner sitting outside with great beer. Outside patio is not inviting with tables and chairs every which way, chairs turned away from the tables, and trash on the floor. Server came reasonably soon. She could not answer a single question about the beer selections and said she didn't know anything about beer and didn't offer to get someone who did. She also could not answer questions about the food menu, and clearly didn't know it well. My salad came as ordered but without dressing, which she did bring quickly. The other person's pizza was barely cooked - the crust was doughly and looked raw in places. He sent it back and was shortly served the same pizza now with burnt crust and burnt pepperoni. He ate it anyway as we were just done with this place. Rating the food because the salad was average but the pizza was terrible. Did see people at the next table get much better service - that server asked what size beer the people wanted (we weren't told there were different sizes) and brought red pepper flakes, etc. for their pizza (we weren't brought or offered anything like that). Extremely disappointing evening.
We were seated fairly quickly on a Friday, but we sat for 15 minutes before any employee greeted us. We watched at least a dozen employees walk by and not one noticed that we had not been waited on. We were about to get up and leave when my wife caught the attention of the waitress serving the table next us and she came over to us, and when told that we were waiting for a server for some time now she acknowledged that we had (she saw us sit down) and then said that the hostess was new and seated us at a table that was assigned to a server whose shift had not started yet. It was a bit frustrating because if she knew that was the case, then why not take measures to address the mistake rather than let a customer sit there for 15 minutes? Needless to say we were off on the wrong foot, and while she was apologetic it was not very sincere. She offered to take our order, but walked away in a rush having forgotten to take my order after receiving them from everyone else at the table. I was about to just go hungry at that point, but my wife spoke up and she came back to get my order, again without much of an apology. The food was mediocre, and that’s not sour grapes, my beer burger was more rare than medium, the kids shared a pizza that was so uninspiring we left half of it on the table and didn’t even bother to box it up, my wife’s salad was the only high point. We left disappointed and will probably never go back. There were lots of better options in Columbia, just wish we would have picked a better one. That’s one person’s experience at Old Chicago, I guess that can happen, maybe that’s not the norm, hopefully others are treated better and enjoy a good meal.
Casual pub like atmosphere in this restaurant offering their own crafted beer. Tried their unfiltered Pilsner on draft, which was quite delicious. Highly recommend the Beer Battered Burger and the Chicago 7 pan pizza. Service was prompt and friendly. Thanks Jack!
They must be short staff because this is the 2nd time I've went came inside wasn't greeted so I'm standing wondering if I should seat myself or what. Finally a girl came up to seat us so I asked her if they had a socket close by to charge my phone she asked what appeared to be the manager he said no. I said you have no socket anywhere he said no. As I proceeded to go the restroom I see sockets every where including the restroom lol. But the food was good
Fast friendly service and reasonable prices. The thin crust pizza was delicious. I will be back.
