I went close to 2 hours to get this garbage. The 1st waiter we had gave our drinks. 32 mins later another waiter came and took our order. This is after she took 2 others oder that came after us 1st. There was an Asian lady kept watching us. I'm sure she seen that we hadn't been waited on yet.Fyi,everyone doesn't like candied collard greens. Meaning whole bag of sugar in greens. My chicken was pink in the inside.BTW, the sweet tea was delicious. I'm willing to bet it came from across the street at McD's. There was a street walker/homeless lady at counter appying a touchup on her makeup.Very classy environment,I tell yeah!!Being nice I paid for the meal. It should of been free considering horrible service. I wouldn't recommend this place for a U turn.
Breakfast is always tasty...the prices have gone up quite a bit but hasn't everyone's?We had salmon patties and liver pudding and it was GOOD. Grits were a nice consistency and eggs prepared as requested. You really can't go wrong getting breakfast at this location.
The waitress was not friendly and was quite rude. This was my 1st time here and will be my last. My husband, daughter & I all spoke to the waitress but we got a half a** hello back, gave our drink order. She comes back with our order & I noticed something on the inside of my cup and ask for another drink and put it in a to go cup, she replied back yeah but acted likes I was wrong for saying something. I noticed how she went to another table with 2 ladies (Caucasian) she was so nice and sweet to them. She brings out our food, I'm missing the meat from my order and tells her, but she takes her time now my pancakes are cold. I didn't bother to even say anything else, I ate my bacon & grits and we left. I will never be back and will not recommend anyone I know to visit. This is not the service I expected to receive nor wanted to get. Every customer should be treated the same regardless of race.
Been going to Lizard Thicket since 1970s on Broad River Rd. My food I ordered was so wrong I don't understand. Ordered county fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac and cheese with Lima beans and corn bread. Got 2 orders of my 2nd order, and the corn bread was burnt. Can't believe It, even gave a tip on a Drive Thru Order!!!
Average soul food dishes. Fried Flounder was good. Cornbread muffins were overcooked and extremely to dry to eat. I needed water to get the bite I took, down my throat.
First time visiting the restaurant. Great experience, waitress very sweet. Food was great. Next time I'm in Columbia, that will be my to-go place for dining.
I drove from Charlotte NC Saturday April 29th to eat at this place. I heard the food was good so I wanted to see for myself. I met the family there and it was a party of 10 people. We went inside, got seated, the waitress delivered to our table, bread and butter. She eventually came back, took our drink order and after 15 minutes we had our drinks. Let me add there was only Three cars in the parking lot so they wasn't busy. There was four customers inside not including our party of 10. While there two people walked in, got seated, got there drinks and order before we did and we had been there for 36 minutes and counting. We sat for another 11 minutes and left. We stayed in a restaurant that had only four customers for 47 minutes and no one took our order. We left and sent toKiki's Chicken and Waffles. The restaurant was packed, we waited 13 minutes, got seated and our drinks and food within 22 minutes. I give Lizard Thicket one star for bad customer service.
I've been eating at Lizards Thicket for nearly 40 years, and their Broad River store is one of my two favorites. They have the best cook in the company here. I usually get baked chicken, which always comes out JUICY and ready to pull apart. Their catfish is also fantastic - and if you're more of a flounder fan, ask for flounder fried in the catfish batter. These folks provide a CONSISTENT meal with a CONSISTENT experience. Thank you, Lizards Thicket!
I can remember eating there years ago and the food was great! It's not so great now it has really changed, more like a mom and pop restaurant instead of fine dinning. My family and I were disappointed with the food. But on a positive note the waitress was very nice.
The broiled flounder was great! A very nice sized serving. I enjoyed the squash casserole as well. The salad was all iceberg so nothing special but a more generous than usual serving of dressing. My wife’s fried shrimp was great. Janet did a great job serving. Service was exceptionally fast. Bathrooms are not very clean. I’d eat here again.
