The rice and peas was scorched and could taste the burntness which made the oxtails taste horrible. This restaurant was at the top of my list for Jamaican food but because of this error it has dropped to the bottom. Take your time and cook quality food and if you burn a pot of rice or something throw it away dont serve your customers your mistakes.
Love the food, and the owners. Real Jamaican food made with people from Jamaica. Coming for years.
I'm in love with this place! Food was awesome, owners were great and noticed I needed help choosing what to get. We had the curry chicken with rice and red beans, and cabbage, and oxtail with the same sides. I am kicking myself for not stopping by sooner. Def will be going here again soon.
I don’t know where to begin! If God himself were in Columbia for Lunch, he’d eat here! Each bite had me dancing in the parking lot.Island Paradise is one of the best kept secrets in Columbia and one of the most authentic Caribbean restaurants within 100 miles.Jerk chicken is spiced nice and the sauce will have you licking your fingers and asking for more. Curry Chicken and Curry Goat were both bold and delicious.I’m not sure about some of the reviews below regarding occasional substitutions or a bit of a wait, but, to my non-West Indian friends, I’d say that’s solid proof it’s authentic. If you’re reading reviews and wondering if you should eat here, the answer is “yes!” You will not be disappointed! Even if you have to drive a bit, it’s well worth it. Big Up Island Paradise!!
This was my second experience here. & I will say I will certainly return again. The food both times was delicious. I have 0 complaints.
Look at the menu online and it says $16.00 for a large order of Oxtails, I asked" how much" the young lady told me $20.90... Wow-what a big difference. I paid $21.00 for a dish I thought was 16.00. Did even give me my dime back. It wasn't worth $21.00.
Definitely will not be back. Almost $22 a waist. Learning experience. I wanted to try a different Jamaican style restaurant and seen many cars in and out so I wanted to give it a try. I am very disappointed with service, options and food portion.
I regularly go to this place for my Jamaican food. The food is great and the jerk chicken has a nice spice to it, which I like, and everything is seasoned beautifully. The meal deals I feel like have a fair price for the amount of food that you get. The only problem I have with this place is that they run out of stock fast midday. Usually there's always something substituted for what I initially ordered everytime I order. I understand stock can go quick but everytime I order from here some things are never in stock. However, overall, I do enjoy the food at this place and the prices are good.
This was my 2nd visit....food wasn't the best....the tiniest shrimp I've ever seen, even the taste was off. Cashier acted like she didn't want to be bothered. The first time was better which is why I went back. Not sure I'll return.
Bean and rice with oxtail and fried plantain mmmm delicious
