This used to be my go to sushi place but this last time was a complete joke. The hefty gentleman who was at the hostess stand was probably the rudest person I have ever had to deal with at a restaurant ever. I was waiting longer than others but his "list" didn't show that but others were definitely being seated as priority. I recently read other reviews about short staffing so maybe that's it but definitely will look for somewhere else based on this experience. After finally being seated I waited an additional 10 mins before even being able to place a drink order. 45 mins after ordering the server informed me that they were behind because a couple larger groups were ahead. My order was not large by any means but the patrons at the bar were consistently being served even after arriving much later. The last picture is what I ordered and it took 55 mins to get. I hate leaving this kind of review because the owner is a very nice guy and the food is normally pretty good but people can read it and decide for themselves. If you want to roll the dice on the friendliness of the staff and whatever then definitely try it. If you don't feel like dealing with the aggravation then look elsewhere. I have heard great things about the place downtown.
Sad to say they are terribly understaffed like most restaurants. Ordered a steak on a hot plate but plate and steak came out warm. Not coming back. It was on 5/11/2022 and I ordered the Inakaya Steak. Took one bite and sent it back. Waitress didn’t replace it or take it off the check. Only refunded me $5. What a joke. Will be going to the other Inakaya on O’Neil Court from now on.
The most delicious sushi I've ever eaten. I love sitting at the bar watching the skilled chefs cut, prepare, and roll away. Good selection of Saki as well.
The quality of the food is undeniably fresh. However, this was my first time getting a to-go order and they automatically charge you a curbside fee of 10%. Now paying an extra cost is fine as long as that is communicated or there is at least a sign. Hopefully they change this policy and at least tell their customers that there is a mandatory curbside fee because I’m sure no one likes paying bills they’re unaware of.
great food in a great portion. they specialize in Japanese cuisine such as sushi rolls and bento boxes. do recommend their boats if going with a party!
My first time here. I was with a group, and there were problems getting all the meals out on time. But the food was good, although not as hot as I would have liked. I will try it again. The wait staff was excellent and friendly, and the atmosphere accommodating.
Some of the best sushi rolls I have ever had! I highly recommend you give this place a try! The prices are very reasonable as well.
Some of the best sushi in Columbia. Love the staff. It is always a pleasure to dine here, lunch or dinner. The Gamecock roll is magnificent.
Our favorite place in town for sushi and authentic ramen! Even when it's super busy the staff will make sure someone takes care of you.
Never disappointing and the food and staff are always exceptional! My son’s birthday dinner here yesterday definitely left a smile on his face and stomach full!
