I was brought here by a close grid who highly recommended the place and it did not disappoint one bit. First off you walk in and the host was so respectful and concerned about getting us a seat. After seated server was quick responding and delighted to be with us. The food is 10/10 so even if everything else had been horrible it would’ve made up for it! Highly recommend this place if you want to bring your family, a date, or even alone!
I truly do love the restaurant. The food is good and I’ve had great experiences with the waiters I’ve had. The only thing… I come here VERY often and notice everything, especially the differences in how they treat black customers vs white customers. As an experiment, I sat there for a few hours one night just watching the entrance. Every white customer or group received the Japanese greeting from the sushi chefs at the bar. Every black customer who entered got simply, just a glance. Not a single greeting for the few hours. I’m not sure if they notice these biases but I do. I’d like to remind them that black customers notice these things and it’s not appreciated. I know the area can be a little dodgy, but please treat all your customers the same. The money is all the same color :) Love your food but tell your sushi chefs they should treat all your customers the same. Not just the ones they are familiar with.
The black dragon roll and fiesta roll are amazing!!!
This was my first time here normally if I'm on that side which is rare....I'm at the karaoke bar next door. Anywho the atmosphere was great, staff(masked) and service was delightful. I ordered their godzilla roll, wings, and drinks. The godzilla roll was cool, just use to tsunami size portions. They lollipop their wings which is fine, it was just over cooked. Because of my experience with the front of restaurant was great, I'd be willing to give the kitchen another chance. Also their prices are awesome!!
I made a special trip across town just to try this place based on the reviews. After 5 minutes someone finally stopped to ask if I was okay. The first sign was not receiving chopsticks with my appetizer and noodle order unlike everyone else around me. I received a dish that wasn't prepared like I expected and asked for a menu to try something else. I could hear the kitchen talking about me and realized they didnt want me there.I asked for my check and was able to order my usual from a Japanese restaurant in downtown Columbia right before they closed.Dont worry I wont be back.UPDATE!!!Reply to Owner response. My issue wasn't with the ramen, thats why I asked for a menu because I noticed everyone eating sushi. It was with service... No chopsticks and hearing me getting talked about in the kitchen... I didn't feel welcome. I wont be back
Cheap food, cheap quality, no wonder the table next to us left most of their sushi untouched. The rice in sushi was overcooked, fish wasn't the freshest, tonkotsu ramen was trash: pork was old with disgusting rotten flavor coming through, the broth was too light and more suited to chicken ramen, noodles weren't great either, there was no marinated egg like you'd expect in a ramen to be found. Special rolls are typical drenched in sauce rubbish, all you can taste is whatever sauce is on there.
Just the best! Fresh authentic Japanese food or some American type sushi also.Never disappoints. A+
wonderful for a couple or a small group. Group of 11, server was inexperienced and more concerned with bill, not service
This place has like 5 different menus that say completely different things. It was wildly confusing. I got two sushi rolls. One was just okay. I don't remember what the other one was called but it was fried in tempura, and it was not great. I thought I was just being picky maybe, but my friend tasted it, and she said she thought it was really fishy, like old fish that had been left out. Staff was nice, though.
One of the best sushi places by far. They have an impressive medley of fish, sake and Japanese cuisine that will leave you flabbergasted. I've been deeply impressed on each of my dozen or so visits and I'm confident you and your cohorts will enjoy it as I have.
