Great college bar inside and outside seating good food and cocktails fried Chicken and 3 sides and rolls
One of several places I like to visit while I'm in Clemson! Good food, great service, good atmosphere! If you ain't been, stop in!
Food was cold. Chicken sandwich so overdone that it was not edible. Waitress said manager was not available and therefore could not adjust our bill. This was around 1:15 in the afternoon and the restaurant was not that busy. Only thing positive was the onion rings were ok. But for $42+ dollars, that was all we were able to eat.
We recently visited Esso and were not impressed at all. I ordered the BLT. There were 2 small strips of bacon, very different than what the menu describes. The bread was just barely toasted. Every time I took a bite the bread fell apart. Pretty soon I was scooping it off my plate with a spoon. The bread crumbled. I can surely say it was the worst BLT I had ever had. The onion rings were not bad. Right after we were seated, the waitress told us our food would take a while due to 2 parties in front of us. She practically insisted we order an appetizer. And she was right. It took forever! Not going back.
Stopped by with GF today for lunch. She had the Caesar Wrap. She opened it up and this is what she found. I told the waitress to get her some more chicken, and she came back and said her manager there was a half chicken breast on each wrap. I told her to take it off the bill, and the manager came out and tried to argue with me that it was. Idiots. Maybe, half a breast of a chickadee
Amy our server was patient funny and very helpful for our first time visit. Food was great and atmosphere welcoming. Thanks for a great time cold drinks and hot tasty food!! When we are in the area again we will be back!
Beer was fine. Food was overpriced and borderline inedible for my bird dog. 80% bread and three chicken nuggets on it. Girlfriend’s greyhound has spoiled chicken on it so she was unable to eat it. Spent $60 on 2 meals and 2 beers. I’ve been here in the past and it’s been great. Guess they’ve stopped even trying now that students are gone.
I absolutely loved this place. The food was amazing and cheap. We had the meat special which came with a choice of meats (friend chicken, steak tips, etc...) And a choice of 3 sides (from a list of about 25 sides. The place is housed in an old Esso gas station. Tons of charm and a good beer selection.
As someone who grew up around Clemson, I have been to all of the restaurants countless times and have never had this poor of an experience. I arrived after the typical lunch rush and got pushed to the side despite being one of the few groups that came in during my time there. I was served a cold burger which had cheese that wasn’t even melted and a dry hard bun. The fries were a soggy pile that didn’t even taste cooked. I received nothing more than a “I’m sorry” as I took 3 bites of the burger before asking it to be taken away in fear that I might get sick. As someone who has bartended, served tables, managed restaurants and even owned a restaurant there is no excuse for this poor quality food and service as it initially should not have been placed in front of me due to its presentation. I hope this was a rare occurrence for other customers’ sake but my family and I will not be returning.
Only positive we had was the waitress. She was friendly and helpful. 8 of us came by for food. I'm visiting from out of town and had never actually eaten here even thought I'm from here. All of our food came out cold and virtually uneatable. I got a Philly that literally was ice cold and so we're the onion rings. I asked for no Mayo but still got it.Nephews food was so over cooked it was like eating cardboard. Sad. Almost $200 in food and drinks and no one could finish thir food.Needless to say I won't be back and very disappointed in the "historicic" dive bar because I heard the food was good ?
