Great atmosphere & food but giving 3 stars because of how antiquated the process is for booking a private event. It was almost impossible to get in touch with the employee in charge of the private events. Also, on the day of the event, it seems they were understaffed so service was painfully slow. Also, not all the staff knew the specialized menu we had so there was tons of confusion there. It would've been helpful if they just printed a special menu for the event instead of trying to have their employees remember all of the options.

Seafood trio was very good, filet Imperial was excellent..our waitress was attentive and made us feel at home...

The best dining out! Really don't think it gets better than this. Our time and taste buds were delighted to find this Southern Gem vacationing in the lake area. The service was spectacular in an age where it is hard to find. We are coming back to the area again soon and the main attraction is returning here to eat and then soak in the gorgeous area Northwest, SC has to offer.

We shared the Escargot Florentine as an appetizer. It was simply divine and the homemade saltine crackers were the best crackers I've ever eaten! I would love the recipe! For dinner I had the perfectly cooked pan fried rainbow trout. It's my favorite fish and the only way it could be improved is to put a roasted whole trout on the menu...bone in, head and tail intact.

Our first time dining at this wonderful place and definitely won’t be our last. It is a beautiful restaurant with top notch food. The steak was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was incredible. You won’t be disappointed!

I was surprised by the prices...they were as high as many big cities. I didn't have a drink, but my companions were pleased with their mixed drinks. They ordered almond covered brie which was pleasant as an appetizer for the table. My pork chops au jus were tasty and tender, the broccoli cooked just right and the risotto a slight bit saltier than I would have preferred. The key lime pie for dessert was also tasty. My companions enjoyed their prime rib and one other entree. Service was quick but we didn't feel rushed.

Was travelling South for the Summer and stopped at Clemson for a Visit. Found Calhoun's and was not disappointed!! The Service was AMAZING and the food was even better. Already Scheduling another trip next summer this was so good!

If this is the second highest rated restaurant in the area, I would hate to try the 3rd best. Sat at the table for 10 mins waiting to order drinks - then the waiter returned with only one one of the drinks - the second missing drink was an ice water. Salads then arrived in 2 minutes which was followed by a spilled dressing all over one of our shoes. One entree was ordered without peppers and arrived in the middle of eating the salad covered in peppers and could not be sent back because the waiter never returned. Aside from the poor service and food - the next issue was smashed food under the table from previous diners and the window sill next to the table filled with stains and covered with dust. Maybe an off night - maybe the place is just a totally overrated dirty dump. If you are looking for a nice night out in this area - I would go elsewhere.

Beautiful facility. Good food. Nice menu options. Service was below average, but not terrible. My steak was NOT cooked to order, nor did I receive the sides that I ordered. Maybe it was because we were a large group (12). But that is not an excuse, since we booked well in advance, they should have been prepared. Based on the service and the prices, it is not a place I would recommend. Their are better options nearby, like Pasaeno's.

We had dinner with two other couples. I ordered a pan seared steak. It had decent flavor but was just a little less tough than shoe leather. Obviously, a poor cut of meat and not aged. The restaurant is loud and the restroom was filthy. In all fairness, my wife had a chicken dish that she liked. We may try it again to see if it is permanently on the no-go list.
