I was that guy that came in 10 minutes before closing ( sorry staff) and I was fully expecting the food to rushed and over/under cooked. I was so wrong. The guy at the front and the bartender were very nice and treated me the same as you would someone that comes in, in the middle of the day. And the food was fantastic. The asada in my quesadilla was tender and flavorful. Definitely recommend.
My husband and I wanted a little something different for lunch so we tried Zia’s. The food was disappointing- the queso tasted like off brand wine, the toquitos were super dry and oily. The pork stew had no pork and none of the sides were ever delivered. The only decent thing was my Modelo.the only thing worse than our food was the attitude and service quality of Josh- our waiter.
Great service and food came out quick.i really liked the salsa but I have had it before elsewhere. The Mexican rice was bland, even the items labeled spicy did not bring the heat. Over all 2 tacos, a side or rice and a beer was about 18 bucks. So from a price and service standpoint it was outstanding. Took 1 star for decent flavor, nothing stood out here.
The most authentic of all restaurants. From food to drinks to a family friendly environment. I definitely recommend my followers to try it out. The recipes are intricate and the staff is amazing. 10 stars I would give if I could. The owner Kevin Grant is a very talented Chef along with the crew of Chefs he has amazingly surrounded his business with. All the food is fresh and in my opinion no restaurant comes close to this one.
Our second time eating here was just as good as the first time. In addition to our Margaritas, my wife and I shared a guacamole appetizer, and we each had the enchilada platter, with different sides. Our server Josh was excellent, and our inexpensive dining experience very enjoyable.
Can’t describe how pleased and pleasant the atmosphere and food is!!!! The best!!! Bring your family, watch sports, have a date. Whatever the occasion I recommend Zia over all. Born and raised here in the Holy City and always check out ever restaurant I can. So far not one other compares to Zia. It’s located in James Island about 10 minutes from downtown. Like Charleston culture then visit a great place to eat while visiting the city.
First time visiting Zia in it's new location. Such a disappointment! Started off with a 20 minute wait for a table when we could clearly see into the dining room which had several empty tables. The hostess not once left the stand to check. Just kept putting people on a wait list. Finally, someonce came and seated everyone waiting......all at once. Our waitress was nice enough but wasn't paying attention when taking our order. She got it all wrong! Her excuse was that the buttons on the computer are so close to eachother that she always enters the wrong items. No offer to replace our meals, just an excuse. Asked us if we were okay with the orders she brought, because the kitchen was backed up. We tried, but the meals were cold. We ended up leaving. Sorry, we won't return.
First happened upon Zia in NC near Asheville, great little hopping taco spot. Saw that they had a location in Charleston and had to check it out. Atmosphere was quite nice. My wife and enjoyed some great margaritas from JOSH. We had the taquitos app and that pepper, vegetables pickled relish was to die for when combined with the fresh guac and crema fresh.Next the tacos!!! Let me just say that if taco bell can sell millions and they suck….Zia couldn’t make tacos fast enough if everyone knew how good these were. Barbacoa and Baja fish were out of bounds delicious. My wife had their portabella mushroom taco and it too was incredible.Seriously people….just go and have tacos and Tequilla. Perfect place for it in Charleston or the mountains.Don’t even waste any more time anywhere else.Keep up the awesome tacos and tequilla Zia!!
Well I’m just going to get to the point the staff is creepy the hostess came into the bathroom because my daughter was crying and I had to change her diaper on the floor. The door won’t shut so she talked to me with the door open an asked I needed help, than when I got back to the table we were pretty much being kicked out. Our server kept messing up our food, and the only time he came over was to get the his tip, everyone was doing everything for him as he laughed just watching them put our food into boxes. Our hostess picks up the a box then checks herself out than talks to me about her outfit and good thing she didn’t spill anything on it. Thank you Zia for having such creepers work at your new restaurant, and may I add the food was great now it’s just disappointing and tastes sloppy.
Love the new location, much larger and easier access off of Maybank Hwy.Their service is genuinely friendly, you can tell they appreciate you being there. 3 different people took care of me and were VERY attentive.Food was great, great selection! Can't wait to come back and try their margaritas!!THank you for a wonderful lunch experience.
