We went here because we were in a hurry. We each had the fried green tomatoes, and they were excellent and the perfect amount for a side. My friend had the shrimp po’ boy and it was everything to be expected from a gastropub. She would have it again. I had the 3-cheese grilled sandwich on Texas toast and again very good and what you would expect in a place such as this. The prices weren’t too bad, but could be a bit cheaper. The server lacked enthusiasm from the beginning and he would get a 2-3 star alone and the food would get a 4-5 star. All in all we would go there again.
First time visiting Charleston. A friend from up north recommend this place. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich, chicken and waffles, and grits with cheese. The chicken was very well seasoned and just the right amount of crispy. Grits were well seasoned and creamy-well balanced.Drinks-mimosa and a very nice Bloody Mary. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable, did their jobs well. Tables and rest room clean. Restaurant is beautifully decorated, vintage pieces without being tacky, nice artwork. I can’t remember the last time I saw a cigarette machine in a restaurant.
This was our first stop after arriving in Charleston. They are a solid 3.5 stars. They were serving Saturday brunch so we decided to try it out. They are known for their Moscow Mules and I see why! It’s apparently a secret recipe and they are good! For my entree I chose the chicken and waffles. The chicken was cooked perfectly but it needed salt! That was disappointing. The waffle was dense and not airy like I’m used to. The butter was supposed to be some sort of honey butter but honestly I didn’t taste that. It was gritty. Overall I think it’s a good place to try. On my next visit I will try something different.
We absolutely love this place! Great atmosphere! Old Diner vibes! Great customer service, cool music and the food! Soooo Good!We were here a few days ago and prior to that, in February for my daughter's birthday.Check it out for yourselves! The Porkchops are great but the chicken and waffles and the Seafood platter are our favorites! Enjoy!
Would not recommend if you expect service above Waffle House levels. The server was clearly uninterested in being there and knew very little about the menu (& was annoyed when asked about it). It took an extremely long time for us to put an order in and they ended up being out of something we ordered, which we were told after quite some time after ordering. I would name her but she did not introduce herself at any point nor make any eye contact which made for an uncomfortable experience. The food and drinks were fine, nothing to write home about but not bad, either. If you’re a visitor to Charleston I would absolutely skip this establishment, so many better places to spend your money.
First off, I tell everrrryone to come here for the Moscow Mule. It's delicious! So naturally, when my friend wanted to meet up for Happy Hour, I was psyched! In addition to drinks, I ordered the shrimp po boy, and wow, it was really good! It was definitely big, with fried shrimp, lettuce, tomato, and a yummy sauce. But the best part was - the fries! Rarebit has really small, thin fries that were hot, crispy, and most importantly, salty! LOVE. A lot of the fries were almost too small to dip in ketchup, as they just fit between your fingertips. Small inconvenience, but still amazing. Also, a lot of people around us were eating chicken and waffles! Just saying. If you're downtown looking for drinks (or food, which is very reasonably priced for this sort of place), check out The Rarebit! I've always enjoyed my visits!
Ate here on Thursday. I do not generaly leave negative reviews if only dining at a place once. I don't think it is fair to sum a place up based off one encounter. After reading the other reviews it is clear that my experience was not a fluke. The issue is their server\host that was working on Wednesday 2\23 at 2pm-ish. Tall, skinny, rude. Had absolutely no desire to be there. Threw menus and food on table. When asked about the drinks she said to "look at the menu if you want the ingredients. I don't pay attention to all that because I don't get paid for it."Food was good.Check was tossed on table without even stopping. Said there was a 20% minimum tip as she walked by. Obviously not true, but I don't have it in me to not tip at least 20%.Whole experience maybe had 1 or 2 instances of eye contact with her.Hopefully the right person sees this and corrective action comes in some form. Service like that is an absolute cancer to a restaurant.
The Food is excellent! Highly recommend the pork chop with chutney and mac & cheese and green beans. Generous portions. Excellent service. We'll definitely go again.
This place rocks. Atmosphere and drinks were perfect.
Three of us had lunch. BLT - Catfish PoBoy -(Nice Sandwich) fries good. Hamburger- sat at bar. Waitress didn’t ask us if we needed anything so felt like service was off. Had to ask for Cokes with empty glasses on table. I’m sure they were short handed. But open your eyes? Good place. Would go back.
