A stop here was planned on our trip from Massachusetts to Florida. We technically drove 200 miles out of the way to get great BBQ but that wasn't really the case. As we walked from the parking lot we passed the part of the building that house to smokers and grills and the promise of great BBQ filled our nostrils. The dining area was crowded with diners and there was a short line to order. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches and a half rack of ribs. We ordered Mac-n-Cheese, Hushpuppies, and Corn Bread for sides. The sides were fantastic. The ribs made the trip to eat here worth it. However, the pulled pork sandwiches were lackluster and had zero flavor. There was no seasoning and the meat was bland. There were sauces on the table but also weren't very flavorful and one was just vinegar according to one of the staff. If Rodney Scott's is to be considered great BBQ it needs some serious attention to how the food is presented. I probably wouldn't recommend that anyone travel a great distance to get mediocre BBQ.

After hearing so much hype about this place, we were really disappointed. The pulled pork was mushy and had no flavor...almost tasted like it was boiled not smoked. None of us were impressed with any of the sauces on the table. They were watery cooking sauces. The side dishes were okay, but nothing spectacular. Mac n cheese was dry, baked beans and collards were good. We won’t be going back to this highly overrated place.

I know Rodney is known for whole hog but I was blown away by his brisket, some of the best I have ever had and the fries are kind of ridiculous. Always love the corn bread which isn’t always something I find in Charleston.

There were so many great reviews of this restaurant but it turned out to be a simply OK place to eat. The pulled pork was unremarkable and the hot sauce was very thin and runny. Everything just seemed to miss the mark. We had eaten at other BBQ places in Charleston and found them to offer tastier options.

Rodney Scott's BBQ was one of my must do's when we visited. I have to admit, I was underwhelmed. We did get a 3 meat platter with turkey, pork and brisket along with wings. The wings were the best item. None of the meats were outstanding. The hush puppies were very heavy. We found that you had to use sauce to get any flavor on the meats. The staff was not very attentive, so people were forced to sit at dirty tables. No one was telling people there were menus in a basket on the window so the line to order was very long with people having to use the one copy at the register to order. We did get there right when it opened, and within 30 minutes almost every table was taken. I was very disappointed with the entire experience . There are much better places to try.

Great food, simple setting with indoor and outdoor seating and a drive up window. Had ribs, smoked wings and brisket. To my surprise the smoked wings was my favorite, then the ribs. Brisket was good too. Prices are about what you would expect.

So let’s start with a positive comment, counter service was welcoming and nice. Table was clean and that’s where it ends. Food wise I’d avoid this place entirely, ordered two meat combo plates and the best part was the sides. Meat was tough, dry and flavorless (had the brisket and chicken). Total tourist trap. Sorry.

My husband loves BBQ and so when I saw a post about Rodney’s I knew we had to try it. We had high hopes and were disappointed. The pulled pork was so spicy it was unappealing. The Mac and cheese was congealed to the point I could have used a knife to cut into it. The collards were excellent as was the cornbread. The hush puppies were OK, but not fresh and hot.

Best BBQ I have had in a long time. No BBQ sauce needed. Very tender and tasty. We had a platter and shared so we could taste a variety of means. We had the ribs, shredded chicken, pulled pork and tri-tip.

The location was surprising but the food was well worth a trip! Pork Sandwich was tender. The sauce choices were great. Hand Apple Pie was not worth the cost.
