Mexican meets Sushi. Odd combination but it works here. Small place with quirky and colorful surroundings. Lots of tequila to choose from. Margs were good as were the cocktails. He got the Habanero glazed edamame for a starter. It was underwhelming. Edamame arrived piping hot to the table and it was fresh but there wasn’t any indication of habanero on them. I got The taco salad with grilled chicken and it was great; full of flavor and the quantity was ample. My husband got the Mesu roll and said its some of the best sushi he’s ever had. He really enjoyed the flavor profile (ahi tuna, avocado, escolar, jalapeño tomatillo salsa, and cilantro). Service was good.

Expensive for the portion sizes, even for Charleston. Sushi roll was $20 for 6 pieces. Margarita was $20 for 16 oz. Food was good but not worth the expense. Won’t be back.

Overall it was really good. Drinks were delicious and strong. Service was great. Street corn was wonderful. Pork and chicken tacos were very tasty. Chips were fresh and seasoned perfectly. Only thing lacking was the salt in the guacamole. Very bland unfortunately. Red salsa and the cheese dip was perfect. Definitely will be back though. Love good Mexican food. Maybe I’ll try the sushi next time.

Nice atmosphere. Good tequila selection. Decent food. Loud mid-2000 hip-hop music. Bachelorette crowd (whoooooo!) 🙋‍♀️. Enjoyable.

Too many Bachlorette partues to hear over GONG!

The food was amazing! Natalia was awesome - thanks for the recommendations and laughs! So glad we found this gem on King Street. If you love sashimi, check out their Hawaiian Fish Bowl. Absolutely perfect!

We had a great experience at Mesu! The chips and sushi were my favorites but everything was amazing!!

We were told we had one hour to dine because they were busy … sorry no one in Charleston did this, will not be visiting again. Food was ok, service not so much

Would not recommend. Was very very excited to try this place too. We had a large group so I was looking for a restaurant that had an accommodating menu for everyone- and that was a huge mistake. The service ruined our evening. They never put in any of the appetizers (then our waitress blamed us for ordering our entrees at the same time as our apps??), my drink came out incorrectly 3 times, then I (the host of the event) was served about 20 minutes after everyone had received their meals and to make it worse I had ordered a pricier tuna roll (that’s all I ordered by the way) but it was filled with cucumber and the smallest sliver of tuna I’ve ever seen. This was also at 10pm so we were starving. The restaurant was not overwhelmed by any means (i totally understand those types of issues) so that’s what was the most frustrating. There’s no excuse. I felt management was condescending but appreciated her initial approach. It was very obvious maybe that had been treated poorly by bachelorette parties in the past and were annoyed that we even came in. Which is not my problem or my groups problem. When I complained I never asked them for anything but just to do better next time and then towards the end I felt it wasn’t enough and for them to comp a few drinks which they refused to do (after we had already spent nearly a thousand dollars). They should’ve offered to do something for us from the start- we don’t want to be in a position of having to ask for any compensation. Compared to our experience the next evening, we ate at Halls which had exceptional service. They were kind, prompt, knowledgeable and accommodating. They sent out complimentary drinks and desserts for us at the beginning and end of our meal (we never asked for this) since they knew we were celebrating during our trip. They were happy to have us and that attitude made our experience so much better.

Good and drinks were delicious. Nice vibes all around.
