Hands down the best Korean place in Charleston. You can't even find another place that serves Bee Bim Pop, let alone some this good. And their hibachi is great if you prefer that. Service is good, and if Mama herself is there she'll be sure you feel at home. One time I was there with a group and, after ordering and getting all our food, Mama came out with a plate of something completely different because she didn't think we had enough to eat and wanted us to try something new. It's the kind of place where I walk in and they ask me if I want the regular. When's the last time any restaurant staff remembered your favorite order?
The food was pretty good, although after I ate the kimchi my tongue was on fire and I couldn't taste any more. My stomach paid the price for all the spiciness as well. Be aware that the kimchi can be super spicy. The rest of my family were very pleased with their meals.
It was raining and my buddy and I needed some lunch and to get in out of the rain. Moma Kim's just happened to be there. So we gave it a shot. He got a steak and shrimp dish, while I went for steak and chicken. In a little while they brought out our dishes which were nice sized (lunch portion) and smelled great. Each protein was stir fried with various veggies, mushrooms, onions, etc. and served with some rice. It actually tasted very good. The decor isn't much but very clean. I saw them cleaning/wiping parts of the kitchen off and on throughout our visit. I would go back for sure.
My people “Do Not Fall” on their review,Their food was the great dissatisfaction. Food was definitely cooked by a passionless cook. What a waste of my $86. Only the receptionist has a good vibe. We went to Thai down the avenue, in my opinion it was far better option .
The Great Korean food. The service friendly and warm environment. I very much recommend your kind come and try this place.
A hole in the wall wonder! I can’t believe they are seeking this place. What the heck Charleston, come on now!!
I've been going to Mama's for years. Great food. Large portions. Low price. And today, I even got the pleasure of talking to Mama before going to work. I always recommend it to people, especially the chicken bowl. Always. Trust. Mama.
I've been to Mama Kim's so many times and have only ever had great experiences here. Lots of food for reasonable prices, super nice staff, and great atmosphere.
This place is a hidden gem! They're located on a busy street downtown, but at times are probably overshadowed by the bigger named restaurants in the area! The prices are normal for the hibachi style food, but more importantly to me is that the food tastes great and their consistency is spot on...I've never had a bad meal from here! Great for solo or couples dining looking for a nice quiet hibachi spot.
Ordered this dish to my hotel room after a bit disappointing lunch evening at downtown Charleston. This was above my all expectations. Everything tasted so fresh as it just arrived to the restaurant. It was very delicious and a great compensation to my evening. Will come back
