I'm a Chicago native, so when I walked passed this bar I had to stop in. They had sports memorabilia all over the walls. They have arcade games and solid music playing. We got there around midnight, so the kitchen was closed. Just got a beer and hung out.
Place needs a powerwashing for sure. Beer is cold which is fine. Didn't eat there as the food at other tables looked a little suspicious. Great location and they could print money if there was a bit of a cleaning effort.
The meat did not slide off the bone, had very great flavor though. The server was good but definitely busy had a tone of tables. There also was this guy and girl making out at the bar for a solid 10min and the manager did nothing. Older people bar for sure. Pretty good vibe. My one experience doesn’t have it at five stars but still had a good time.
After arriving in Charleston we went in search of a quick bite to eat. This was our first visit to Charleston and we were not familiar with the area, but happened upon Mac’s on our way to the market area. We sat at the bar and Jared did a great job. He was engaging and attentive. The menu has a nice selection of appetizers, salads and sandwiches. The fried shrimp was excellent - light and tasty batter. Nice place for a drink and some good pub grub.
We stopped by here because my dad's nickname was Mac, as were all of his brother's nicknamed Mac (family name McGarvey). My cousin's nickname is Lil Mac...so it just seemed a necessity we go to Mac's Place.. I must say, I was a bit disappointed. I felt the service was so-so; the barmaid almost made us feel she was doing us a favor waiting on us. The atmosphere wasn't that great either; it seemed a bit dirty and dingy. We had a beer, bought a t-shirt for my cousin, and left. We headed to Bumpa's...our favorite Irish pub in Charleston.
Fun atmosphere. Very busy
We had fun playing pinball while having some drinks! Nice atmosphere! Lots of room inside for larger groups
The menu was very original. Dishes were named with quotes from popular movies. The Tacos were very good and reasonably priced!
Would have loved to see a menu but the bartender was too busy drinking with the other customers.
Classic neighborhood pub vibe but also being very welcoming to the tourist crowd.Nice beer selection and food at reasonable prices considering its in the heart of the historic district. Lots of arcade games for additional entertainment and nice low lighting to add to the ambiance.
