Delicious soups and sandwiches and friendly staff. Soup sample taste helps choices.
Every soup that I've had here has been great. A couple of them are exceptional actually. The price for the portions are perfect. Place looks clean & employees have been nice.Edit: There prices are inconsistent; A sandwich with a soup add on is 2/2.50 upcharge & 1/2 sandwhiches are around the $4 mark) however my total was $9. It should've been 6-7 even the person who rung me up was confused & their updated menus aren't posted anywhere online as well.
I first visited Ladles after receiving a kidney transplant in May of 2020. They were actually on a list of places that the Transplant Team approved for post transplant patients, so I figured...what the heck, we will try it. Well I am so glad we did. From the moment we dined, Ladles has become one of my all-time favorite places in Charleston. Each time we are in town we head there for some of the best soup/sandwiches we have had. Right now my favorite is the Club with turkey chili. They offer multiple portion option. The soup is always fresh, flavorful, and piping hot. They service is wonderful as well. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy. Great place to dine!
No she crab?!? Been going here forever. Everything is good. It’s a great option for something other than fast food. Unfortunately though, Ladles just isn’t Ladles without the she crab soup. It’s the primary reason we go there. No she crab soup Sunday-Thursday and out by 4 o’clock on Friday? Four stars because I know it’s still great and I hope things will get back to normal.
I bought 2 pints of soup and salad for takeout. It went well the cashier was pleasant.Though I enjoyed the soup it was high on sodium. I suggest to cut down on the salt. Older folks like me and those with health conditions would appreciate it.
Granted it has been awhile since I have ordered from Ladels because of the pandemic. I called to place a Togo order and had a question about a particular sandwich. Only to be greeted by " Are you not familiar with our Menu" in a snooty manner. So, I choose not to order at all. I normally don't like to leave bad reviews, being a small business owner myself. We need all the support we can get, but this needs to be addressed.
I'll just let the picture do the talking. Used to go here a lot but quality seems to get worse every time over the last year or so. Glad they replaced the incredibly rude lady who used to work the counter with a very pleasant person but I'm done.
The soups are a five. I have stopped in there the last three days and the lady working has been rude every.single.day. I know how hard it is to find help now and on day one thought she could be having a bad day. Met the owner on the first day and such a great person! Went back yesterday, same treatment. Kitchen Manager was nice and I ordered 4 quarts of soup to be picked up today. Made special trip back and was told bluntl by lady “we sold some of your soup”. No apology at all. Sad to say, I don’t feel the need to return to see her again?
Fantastic for lunch and dinner! Their Chicken Noodle is my absolute favorite, but I wish they’d do Thai Coconut Chicken more! ? Great options for Vegan and Gluten free friends too!
Normally I don’t leave bad reviews. In fact, I never have before today because I work in this industry myself as a server and I know how it can be. I understand everyone can have “off” days. However, when I went to pick up a quart of baked potato soup just now I was in shock that someone could be so unpleasant. I called in an order 15 minutes prior to arriving. When I walked in the door, I was asked what I was there for and told Terry I called in an order for soup. She told me I must have just now called because it wasn’t ready and proceeded to complain and gripe to the employees around her that she had to make the soup for me and put all of the toppings on the side which would take her some time. Then proceeds to openly say “I don’t know why anyone would want this boring soup anyway”. In plain earshot of me and other customers. Like I said, I work in the service industry. I understand how difficult it can be during these times. But you shouldn’t make your customer feel like a burden for coming in and just wanting to pick up what they ordered. Or at least wait until you aren’t in earshot of any customers to complain and gripe. Extremely unprofessional in my opinion.
