When we decided to go to Folly Beach, Jack of Cups that was one the reasons we decided to visit. The menu was intriguing and they have a ton of vegan/ veg options. We ordered many entrees to try and all were great. The staff was super cool and offered other vegan suggestions. Jack of Cups was easily the best food on our stay at Folly Beach. We look forward to coming back again.
Delicious food and drinks and eclectic and welcoming atmosphere. We had the captain crunch deviled eggs, tofu buns, edamame salad and impossible burger. Best meal in Folly beach, by far!
I'm giving this place 5 stars for being a unique spot in a little beach town generally filled with more standard beach town fare. That said, while the overall theme of pan-Asian fusion with an emphasis on comfort food vibes may seem really unique and specific, this is not the only restaurant in the greater Charleston area that does it, and they're definitely not the better of the two. I'd recommend Jackrabbit Filly in Park Circle if you from are out of town and only have time to try one. That said, the food is still good. It just sometimes misses the mark a bit. Pad Thai, a dish of fairly delicate flavors, maybe doesn't need such a heavy delivery system as gnocchi, for example. Interesting, good for a few bites, but ultimately a bit much.None of this is to say we won't be back. It's certainly one of the better restaurants on Folly and is often overlooked by tourists in favor of more flashy establishments, meaning lower wait times. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful as well. I'm very much looking forward to trying out more of the menu.
Hands down the best restaurant on Folly Beach! Seems very unassuming, you would easily miss it if you weren’t looking for it. Once you walk through the door, you’re greeted with a delicious aroma and you know you’re in for a culinary treat. We ordered the burrata salad, pad tai gnocchi and saag paneer curry. All were beyond delicious! My husband and I couldn’t stop commenting on how good our meal was as we devoured every last bite. Restaurant seating space is limited so get there early. You won’t want to miss this!
I was skeptical of the new April menu- Thai + Indian + Italian? The menu items' ingredients don't look (on paper) like they'd taste good together but apparently there's magic afoot at the Jack of Cups because daaaang Capt' Crunch really DOES taste good on a deviled egg nested in creamy (cheesy?) goodness! And YES! Fried tofu CAN taste just as good as pork belly in a super soft bao bun (they did it right, y'all) with cilantro and SPRINKLES! And the Sourdough cheese toast... topped with so much goodness it'll make you fight a nun for the last piece. The Dorito wontons? Weelllll...they might have been better fried instead of steamed. They were alright though. Definitely go on this culinary adventure- it's sooooo worth it!
Right in the heart of Folly Beach business district on Center Street with a pirate on the roof!! They have a large patio area out back. We ordered the captain crunch deviled eggs! Wow. Absolutely loved it Also got the pad Thai gnocchi. Came with tofu and pad Thai sauce. Also very good. Wish we had a bigger group so we could try other items on the menu. They all looked so interesting. Our waitress started with an A, but she didn’t bring our beer until a friendly nudge. Perhaps she was just too busy. At the end, we waited a bit just sitting and staring until she brought us our bill.
Picked this place based on Trip Advisor Reviews. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Hungarian / Czech. . . who would have thought? My spouse is certified by our State Dept. of Agriculture in Mushroom ID and she is a gourmet cook . . . . . .and she said The Jack of Cups had the best mushroom soup she ever ate. . . . . And she's been in many of the finest restaurants in the world. So That's high praise. I've been in those restaurants all over the world with her and well and I'd rate this little place as "Spectacular!"
Only my second visit to this lovely place and I think about it daily. I'm not a big spender when it comes to food but their food is so good I end up wanting to throw my money at them. That's the really great part though, they're very affordable. Especially considering their location. Vegan and vegetarian friendly menu but I can tell you they cook meat beautifully. The Hungarian/Czech menu is going on until mid March and I don't know how I'm going avoid going back every week until then. The bad part is I'm just as excited to try their regular menu items. The people are also very very nice. Very polite and kind service. 10/10 have already recommended to all my friends.
This place is one of our all time favorites. Creative cuisine to be sure. Recent renovations inside are modest and that’s the way it should be. The “pop up” menus are an exciting way to keep it interesting. Prices are ok, though the portions could be better. Best to order some apps or more than one main dish person and share if you are really hungry. Good news is the menu is designed to accommodate.
Our first visit to the Jack of Cups. We will be back. As an homage to the owner's background, the menu contains Hungarian and Czech dishes. We started out with the bean goulash, pierogi lasagna, and stuffed cabbage. Loved all three so decided we wanted more! Then had the potato cakes and the borscht dip. Everything was great. Glad we came early because it got real busy real quick.
