I went here with a friend for lunch on a weekday around 1pm. They had immediate seating outside but we opted to wait 10-15min for a seat inside (it was like 95 degrees outside.) Staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered two sliders pulled pork and brisket and side of collard greens. Short wait for food. The sliders came on Kings Hawaiian rolls with slaw and pickles. Both tasted awesome. The brisket was just right. Moist, tender. Pulled pork also spot on. The greens were good but for my tastes I think they went a little overboard on the vinegar. My friend got their house special burger and said it was excellent. I tried some tots too which were good. They even offered us a drink refill to go which was cool. My sliders were $6 each. I don’t know some might think that’s a little on high end but I’ve come always expect to pay a little more for BBQ. Great meal. Would definitely return.
Almost back-to-back are Home Team BBQ and Lewis Barbecue. Each has its proponents in Charleston. Lewis is better at the meat and gives huge servings. Home Team is better at the sides. At Lewis you have to stand in line and order at the counter whereas Home Team has table service. Lewis is beer & wine while Home Team has a very large, full bar. I wish that I could get the better points of each.
Fun place and friendly staff
I really like this place. Nachos are good. Pulled pork is good and that’s my go to. My first visit i did a wrap and it was mostly rice & beans. I give restaurants 3 tries. I’ve been 5 or 6 times now. Just wish everything was hotter when served. Even If its 90 degrees I want a hot sandwich. Its doesn’t stop me from going i just feel hotter tastes better. The hostesses are always nice and service is fast priced well. The other location serves hotter meals. WA needs to work on that.
Not a good experience for us this evening, but everyone, and every business can have bad days. The service by our server was not good. I wanted to order the 1/4 white meat chicken, but they had no white meat left! So I ordered a pulled chicken sandwich, and there was a bone and grizzle in my meat. My son ordered a beverage that was not delivered to him. The server never returned to the table to know, until she came with a check. We were charged for the beverage. The check was corrected. The mac and cheese was dry. The buffalo chicken dip was not hot enough. I have to say, I came here after reading the reviews. We were personally disappointed in the whole experience. But give it a try, you may have better luck on a better day. This is just our experience and I probably will not return.
Read good things about Home Team and decided to give it a try. Definitely has more of a sports bar vibe to it as there are TVs everywhere, but that isn't a negative at all. Just want people to take that into consideration if they were thinking of coming to Home Team. Ordered 2 meats combo with Brisket and Pulled Pork. I got the Collards and Mac n cheese for sides. All their food was great. They have 6 sauces on the table as well. The standout sauce was the mustard based sauce. Definitely recommend
Everything I hoped it would be! Home Team was on my must eat list. Cannot save enough. The Mac and cheese is delish, and I might be the most critical Mac and cheese eater there is. The pulled pork was excellent, as were the sauces, my husbands burrito special, and the fried Mac and cheese . The only thing I didn't like was the baked beans. Loved getting a sweet tea to go on our way out with leftovers. Highly recommend.
Having visited a barbecue restaurant just a week before I found this establishment to be of great improvement. This was my second time visiting Home Team and honestly the first visit would've received maybe two and a half stars so the fact that I gave four stars says that the food wasn't bad. Smoked turkey was what I ordered with my sides being collared greens and Brunswick stew. The stew was rather soupy as I'm more accustomed to it being more like a thick sauce. Otherwise everything was well and tastety.
All the meat is spot on - get the nachos with pulled pork and try the brisket as well, you won’t regret it
Time to find a new local hangout. Plate of nachos now cost $16.75, add $3 for brisket. So with tax & tip your brisket nachos now cost $26 ???! Inflation or not, you’re now price gouging!
