Leaving the Gibbes art museum in downtown Charleston, then looking for coffee, our family discovered Harken. The two rooms are very stylish and make use of the existing structures. The coffee is excellent, and there is a wide variety of cakes and pastries that I, regrettably, did not focus on carefully enough and need to go back to see what I missed!

Harken is my go-to coffee shop downtown. As a local, I go there at least three times a week. Occupying a converted Charleston single, it is as charming as coffee shops get and very Charleston. The staff are friendly and often remember names of locals. It’s a perfect place to go with a friend or by yourself with a book. The iced matcha latte is my favorite drink on the menu. Don’t be deterred by the long line or full house. If you don’t mind waiting a couple minutes, tables frequently free up.

We so enjoyed our visit to the Harken cafe and bakery - a cutesy, friendly, warm and welcoming establishment, just tucked round the corner from the main drag, with busy little tables, plain wood floor and a joyously homely feel. The ideal place to sip iced tea in the south! One of Charleston's best eateries; highly recommended.

Harken Cafe and Bakery is a small location with great appeal. I went with my two grown daughters while we were visiting this great city. We ordered breakfast, each with a different item. My Vegan quiche was beyond my expectations. Tasty with great and healthy fillings, it was complemented with a tasty breakfast beverage. Prices were very reasonable too.

This cafe was recommended by my walking tour guide. I stopped by for a later lunch about 45 minutes before closing, so food options were limited. I ended up ordering a slice of quiche, which was delicious. Employees were friendly.

If I lived in Charleston I would be in trouble! This place is so good! The pastries, muffins, coffee. Everything we tried was perfect! Loved the decor and ambiance! Hidden in one of Charleston’s lovely French Quarter streets. You might miss it if you’re not careful. Love, love love this place! Can’t wait to go back on our next visit to Charleston!

We were on the hunt for an afternoon sank and stumbled into Harken’s. Wonderful baked goods that they sneak the healthy stuff into (like sweet potatoes into as scrumptious chocolate pound cake). Go early to have the best selection.

Harkan is a top favorite spot of mine for coffee in Charleston. It’s in a small historic Charleston single home with lots of character, the old exposed wood beams, exposed brick, and it has a charming exterior piazza with seating. My favourite drink is the dirty turmeric chai latte. They have baked good as well as hearty sandwiches and salads. Note that they close mid-afternoon.

Stopped on a very hot day for iced jasmine tea…….made with real tea, with cakes to die for! I would return here tomorrow as it’s the perfect antipathy to main chain cafes…bravo!

Went there in the morning thinking it was a bakery. A bit more of a vegan coffee shop. Servers could have a bit more knowledge of the products to those of us who do not do this type of eating. The avocado crumb cake was different but good. The "toast" is not really toast but bread with some sort of compote on it. Had to ask for cream for coffee. Not very forth coming to get it. But a quaint old house with outdoor seating.
