My partner and I visited Hannibal's Kitchen during our trip to Charleston and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Carolina BBQ Ribs Plate, she had the Pork Chop Plate (both with Collards and Mac and Cheese), and we both shared a Crab Rice. Not only was everything delicious, but the staff was friendly and accommodating to us. We will be back on our next trip here!
I ate lunch here. The night before, I had dinner at one of Charleston's more upscale restaurant and the crab rice was as good as that other restaurant's, but twice the size and half the price. Not to be missed.
Finally stopped in and tried them after seeing them online for over a year today. Went with a friend that grew up eating a lot of the same types of food so we felt like we had to try a lot of different things today. We started with gizzards. Definitely had a good seasoning (a little chewy, but normal). Then we both tried the shrimp and crab rice with fried shark added as our entree which was as good as everyone made it out to be. For sides he went with Lima beans and I went with collards. He said the Lima beans were delicious but the serving wasn’t quite as large. I got a huge container of collards and they were as soft and tender as could be. We both got a piece sweet cornbread as well to balance out all the salty parts. Honestly everything we had was good. We definitely didn’t need that much food and ended up taking more than half back home for leftovers but felt we had to try them. Our server was great. She was super busy so don’t go in a rush. This is a take your time and enjoy the company and food type of place. I would definitely come back again. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.
Best Soul Food in Charleston, hands down! You can taste the homemade love in every bite. Parking is a bit tricky..only two-ish stalls in the front. There is plenty of street parking in the area, but be sure to read the signs for permits, etc. We went for lunch and it was packed on a Tuesday. Lots of people ordered ahead and arrived to pick it up. We walked in and were greeted with fast, friendly service. It only took about 15 minutes to get the food, and we sat at the tables outside on a beautiful day. SO. GOOD. This is a can’t-miss if you’re visiting or if you’re local. This food will hit the spot.
Man I could eat here every day. This is exactly the type of place we love to visit when we travel. An honest family run operation with great people and better food.It’s very reasonably priced and not fancy, but what a meal.
We were anxious to try some authentic "low-country" food, such as shrimp & grits & oxtails, but the menu on the website hadn't been updated in years....the only items available were items I could cook myself at home in Virginia. We didn't eat there, but it smelled good!

I had found Hannibal’s Kitchen through an online article and after our other choices for dinner had too long a wait, we decided to give it a try. I’m so thankful the others were too busy - Hannibal’s was loved by all of us!! As other reviewers have noted, there was a wait for our food but it was totally worth it!! From the sweet tea to the fried shrimp to all the sides, everything was better than expected. And we didn’t know what to expect from the crab rice but my daughter and I took a chance on it - AMAZING!! It was a true taste of Charleston, and our stop at Hannibal’s Kitchen will be one of our favorite memories of our vacation!
Went in on a Thursday afternoon..wasn’t very busy at all..ordered at the counter & got our food in 20ish minutes.Crab rice, fried catfish, okra soup, Mac & cheese, and yams. 10/10 for everything, fresh, not overly salted or greasy, and well priced.Highly recommend. And will def be back.
