This is an awesome spot for authentic Mexican food in Charleston. Have a Michelada before you figure out your order, and I recommend trying a few tacos. My fave is the cochinita pibil, and as a meat eater it's hard to admit my second fave is the nopales (cactus)!! The birria is fantastic. Do the al pastor. Maybe the campechano. And there's so much more. This is the closest CHS gets to Mexico.
This place is phenomenal! The food is so authentic and you get great portions of food. Definitely recommend- you can tell they really care about their customers!
I recently ate at El Pincho Taco, and MY GOD, THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. I'm a native Texan and take my Mexican food seriously, and this is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever visited. The food is absolutely incredible, and the drinks... well, look at the pictures and you can see how a guy in our group felt the margarita flight he ordered (that smile rivals a child's smile on Christmas morning).Seriously: El Pincho Taco is now an absolute must-visit restaurant every time I go to Charleston, SC. I'm salivating just thinking about it.
The food is amazing. So authentic and delicious. The staff is very friendly and really does a great job of making sure you get what you need. I would recommend this place to anyone who would like authentic Mexican food and tacos on a house made corn tortilla. Delicioso!!!
SERIOUSLY! LOVE THIS PLACE. One real Mexican American's POV.Genuinely you can't find a more authentic Mexican food spot like this anywhere else in Charleston, SC. Everything is really great portions and you truly get what you pay for and it's worth every dime. Definitely have to try the Tortas, the Flautas or the Birria Tacos! The Birria Tacos are seriously the best I've had anywhere honestlyDon't be fooled by these negative comments, my girlfriend and I are Mexican-American and we just moved from El Centro, CA (literally right near the boarder so trust me when I say we grew up eating real Mexican food all our lives) and we were so happy to find an amazing spot like this on the East Coast, we were really surprised. It is the REAL DEAL.and Honestly I'm reading through these negative comments and most of these people don't even know what real Mexican food tastes like. Seems like there only experience is Taco Bell or Chipotle. *cough* salty pincho bowl reviewer *cough*No offense to La Ha or Los Poblanos, but any real Mexican will tell you thats a far cry from REAL MEXICAN food you'd get from a cenaduria in Mexico.El Pincho Taco easily earns my 5 stars. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Do yourself a flavor and try it for yourself!
This is a great little place to eat. The menu is simple, yet delicious. I took off a star only because I asked for horchata, and she gave me something else. That something else was really good, though so I didn't complain. They are very friendly and quick. I will definitely go back.
Pretty good service but overpriced for the quality of food and drinks. Service was quick though and hospitality was good. Drinks seemed weaker than they should be, even with adding double liquor. Street corn was grayish on the ends and the salsa, guacamole, etc was extra salty and lacking the crunchy vegetables. The responses to negative reviews is disappointing and says a lot in itself, whereas most businesses would try to fix the issues rather than trash talking the people who had disappointing experiences, but that's another topic. Overall, though I liked the service, the food and drink quality needs improvement.
My family and I stopped here for take-out for dinner. The tacos were creative and great (street taco style) and we got an appetizer with a couple of different salsas and queso. All the food was wonderful--flavorful, not too greasy (except for the chips) and reasonably priced. I really recommend this place!
The red árbol chile was good, cabeza tacos meat was delicious, the place is very traditional, the food looks good, only a couple things: those corn tortillas were a little hard, I expected a good green sauce but it wasn’t, and one last thing you must check your bill and make sure there’s nothing “extra”.
Nothing special here. In fact, the food was below average and so was the service. I love a hole in the wall, authentic Mexican restaurant, and I had high hopes for this spot. Don’t waste your time here. PS - whoever does your Insta is fantastic. They make the food look amazing. Bummed about the experience.
