Food here is top notch, no idea how this place isn’t more busy than it is for it being so close to folly. The ahi seared tuna was amazing with appetizers and deserts mentioned by everyone else’s reviews living up to and or exceeding our expectations. Another unexpected surprise was the level of service. From the moment we walked in the door with a reservation to the moment we left we had perfect service. We were seated immediately and you can tell it is a well experienced staff geared to make you feel welcome while not being overly hovering. It’s really impressive how much of the neighborhood vibe they actually have. The beer and wine selection is well paired. The ambiance is also very nice, with a very chill vibe.
This place is ridiculously good. It's the type of place you don't want to review because you don't want anyone else to know about it. Sean always crushes services for us, top tier in every way. Wahoo, burger, short rib, chicken & waffles all fantastic. Vibe is a pleasant mix of hip & trendy meets home town country family. As I'm writing this I'm thinking to myself, should we go for brunch right now or will they think it's wierd because we were there last night... I think you know my answer. Cheers!
We were looking for a nice restaurant for our last night in Folly Beach. Didn’t really want to go into Charleston on Friday night. It had been a rainy rainy week and wanted to end on a good note. It was July 1. So 4th of July weekend. I googled “best places to eat between Folly Beach and Charleston.” That’s how we found Edison James Island. It was amazing. I had the Vietamese Pho Tacos with a side of black bean & Street corn salad. It was delicious. I also got to taste the chicken & waffles…best waffles I’ve ever eaten and the chicken was moist and flavorful with a delicious crunch. Also tried the West Indies Seafood Chowder. It was excellent. We ate inside due to the rain but the inside dining area is very inviting and relaxed. I would recommend 100%. Will definitely return!
Honestly an amazing meal. Had the pan seared wahoo and was one of the best plates of food I have eaten. Service was amazing! Definitely a must try!
Food is amazing. Highly recommend the seafood chowder and butter bean soup. Their chicken and waffles are some of the best I've had. The spare ribs were very tender and flavorful. We will definitely be returning.
I recently had a truly lovely dining experience here. From the decor and atmosphere, which are calming, to the staff who are friendly and helpful without ever being overbearing, to the food and wine - this was the best meal out we've enjoyed in a long time.I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. I will be back often!
Had a delicious meal here and great bottle of wine. Sunday is half price wine. Awesome service. Nick the bartender was fabulous. Have been to a few Charleston restaurants and this is a fave. The fig and cheese appetizer was my favorite.
We just had the best time at our dinner here! from when I called and they accommodated us with short notice to when we left out the door it was all such a pleasant and tasty experience! when we met Paula we knew we were in the right place, she was so kind and and everyone just made it feel like such a nice place. we had a great time and are excited to return for years to come! thank you for your kindness and the great experience! don’t even get me started on how absolutely delicious and fresh the food was. i can’t wait to visit again, most likely in the morning for brunch ?
Edison was highly recommended by our Airbnb host. Our host is earning a five star rating despite what our accommodations turn out to be because Edison did not disappoint. The food was spectacular! I had the Norwegian smoked salmon sandwich which simply melted in my mouth and my daughter inhaled half her gnocchi in a matter of minutes. Don’t forget to kick start your meal with the delectable whipped goat cheese and fig dip served with crustinis. Edison, you had us purring from the start!
Extraordinary food and value. We went for dinner on a Sunday. The whipped goat cheese starter and the duck and dumplings were fantastic. The service and atmosphere were lovely. We feel lucky to have this fine restaurant available on James Island with their own parking available.
