We visited to get an early breakfast before Ford Sumter tour. Great service, very quik turnaround, and very nice breakfasts which whole party enjoyed.

AtmosphereDiner style with open seating. Dated but clean.ServiceYoung man who served us was helpful. Didn't give his name. Middle age woman came to make conversation about the amount of food we ordered. It was weird and inappropriate. She didn't offer to help our server clear the table, just talking about the amount of food. I guess one entree person is too much food.FoodPortions were good size. The cumin rubbed chicken, shrimp and grits special was cold but had a good flavor. The cinnamon waffle was lacking in temp and flavor. The fried chicken was seasoned very well and came out hot.The scrambled eggs were hot as well. The French toast was thick but not flavorful. The greens were not it.Fried okra came out hot but needed seasoning.

The one downside is the parking arrangement! I've been trying to get in here for ages, but am unfortunately very scared of parallel parking and often skip it if it's busy! But, my niece and nephew really wanted to go, so we took a chance and it was very worth it. We came on a Saturday morning and it was fairly busy, I took the last space in the lot at the time. We went inside and were told there was maybe a 20 min wait. We sat outside to wait for maybe 10 mins tops before they had us seated. My nephew and I had shrimp and grits (which were fabulous) and my niece got her favorite, french toast! I was also pleasantly surprised by the coffee, since I usually don't like it. I would say this is definitely worth a trip for the breakfast alone! I will definitely be back for more myself!

My friend and I came here because of Guy Fieri's Diners Drive-ins and Dives, and it did not disappoint. The Chicken and Waffles were the best I have had, and we had an overall fantastic meal. We shared two other plates, and both of those were delicious too. Would 1000% come back? The atmosphere was very old school, and it felt like Grandma's house in there.

Wow! No wonder it gets such great reviews! We split an amazing club sandwich and each had the best tomato bisque ever. Denise was very polite with us. Now another reason to come to Chsrleston.

Early Bird Diner — Guy Fieri ate here! The Early Bird hits all the marks: great food, excellent service, comfortable place, fair prices. It’s on a main road in the West Ashley section of Charleston — you won’t have to look hard to find it. Classic diner style, counter service and booths, with a dash of Lower East Side decor thrown in. Southern food. I went with the Corn Cake Eggs Benedict. Corn cakes (cornmeal pancakes) with bacon, poached eggs and a wonderful Hollandaise sauce. Fantastic. Side of grits, also very nice. And I never had to go looking for a refill on my coffee.I won’t have to eat again until dinner.Recommended! Thanks, Early Bird.1644 Savannah Hwy. Charleston SC

Just an all around GREAT place to Dine

The food was good and the service exceptional. We had not eaten there before and a friend in Charleston recommended the place. It is non descript on the outside and the inside reminds you of a local place you would like to eat breakfast each day. I had the pancakes with chocolate chips and pecans. Outstanding and large. Three huge plate size pancakes and I could not finish them. Also, I had the house sausage which had a very good flavor. Would go back tomorrow if I were in Charleston.

We stopped into Early Bird Diner on our way back home to Georgia today. A friend had recommended it in the past & we had not yet been. It was so delicious and I ate ALL of mine lol. I got the Club Sandwich & Tomato Basil Soup & my husband ordered the patty Melt & Fried Green Tomatoes. Everything was very yummy and Amber took great care of us. Definitely recommend!!

Great breakfast place. Food was hot and came out fast. Staff very friendly. Clean . Easy parking and easy to get in and out of. Lots of local art work on walls for sale. We will be going back.
