We have been regulars at Chez Nous for a few years. This is our first review. The food and service is outstanding. The staff are charming. On its day it is top three in Charleston for the food if you appreciate the French nuance, which we do. Sometimes when reviewing the menu, which is posted on line at 10.30 each morning, we decide “not for us” that day. Not that it’s bad but as there are only two selections for each course it’s wise to take a look ahead of time. Absolutely a go to place.
Food is pretty good, I’ve had better. I was expecting my meal to be a greater experience based on the reviews, price, and other dining experiences in Charleston. Maybe I came on an off day.I wish I got a picture of my salad, it was beautiful and tasty.Ambiance: charming, I loved the look!Service: excellent
A nook of a house with a surprisingly warm and welcoming feel, Chez Nous is by far one of the best if not the most charming dining location in Charleston. (maybe Hall's is comparable but I didn't make it in and that being said, most of the places in Charleston are rather well put together if I do say so myself!!)The menu was pretty much set and our party of three ordered the pairing menu and I loved it very much even though I wasn't drinking (shh)!I had the cold pasta salad with nuts for appetizer, the branzino for the main and the mint ice cream for dessert. We honestly had too great a time with each other, the food and with the house staff, who were supremely knowledgeable about the food and all its pairings, to take too many other photos. Hence the lone fish pic!If you want a special treat of an experience and meal on your visit, call ahead and make a reservation. You'll thank yourself.
Spent 4 nights In Charleston and this was the best restaurant of all the places we ate including Hanks, Melfie's, Grocery, Ordinary. The menu was simple, only offering two entrees, two appetizers and two desserts. Perfect offering to stay focused on the amazing execution of food prep! One appetizer was crostini. The other was a cold tomato soup. Amazingly delicious. The entrees included a local fish with chickpeas. The other was the best duck I've ever had with summer squash. Not greasy and cooked perfect. Desserts were fresh peaches with cream and pistachio or orange ice cream with strawberry. Both delicious! Hands down. I would go again next time I'm in town. Make sure you have a reservation.
Every visit to Charleston features one or two meals at Chez Nous. We made it twice last week for a dinner and a lunch during Spoleto. As always wonderfully unpredictable menu with fresh seasonal ingredients. Light preparations. Some of the best time were the burrata with brocollini salad; wreckfish with roast peppers; mascarpone with orange slices; poached peaches. Wonderful!
Words can’t really describe my visit here except you need to definitely check this place out! It’s hard to find if you’re not familiar with the area. It’s tucked away and hidden from the street. There is a very small sign on a pole that is easy to miss so our Lyft driver missed it but we found it eventually.Word of caution for those that like to review menus before dining somewhere. The menu changes daily. They offer 2 different appetizers, entrees and desserts each day. They post their menu and pictures of each item daily on social media. I would say that you need to have an open mind about food and just enjoy your surroundings. The cuisine is a mixture of French, Spanish and Italian influences. I noticed on the wine list that everything was also from those 3 countries. We booked our reservation a month in advance on Resy. They offer the same menu for lunch and dinner. I wish that I would have ordered one of everything on the menu. Seriously it was that good! For my appetizer I chose a roasted chickpea salad which was delicious. Can’t go wrong with roasted chickpeas, red onion, cucumber, roasted peppers and a soft boiled egg in a yummy vinaigrette dressing. I used the complimentary bread to soak up the dressing too…yummy! For my entree I chose the trout that was sourced from the waters of N Carolina and stuffed with crispy Serrano ham on top of roasted fingerling potatoes, escarole in a lemon butter sauce. Best tasting fish that I’ve had ever! It’s was a whole fish minus the head, tail and bones. Had a glass of Riesling from France to wash it all down! For dessert I chose the puff pastry with fresh whipped cream and a blueberry compote. It was good but I wish that I would have chosen the Fontainebleau which was a house made cheese with sugar and vanilla drizzled with honey and topped with strawberries. I had a cup of cappuccino to end my evening and it was fine cup of espresso and milk!I truly left satisfied and happy and hope to return one day soon!
The food was completely amazing. From the appetizers, to the entrees, to desserts as well as the espresso. A small French Bistro restaurant tucked away in an old house
The restaurant has a restricted menu of 2 appetizers, 2 entrées and 2 desserts that changes every day. At first I was a little concerned about what would be the options and if I would like them. My concern was dissipated by the time I ate my green salad. Everything was well executed and tasteful. I think the dessert options could be more elaborated. The orange marmalade tart was delicious, but the lime mousse was nothing exceptional. Service is excellent, location is cozy and classic.
This wonderful restaurant was a little hard to find but worth the visit. The menu is limited but this ensures quality in my book. My only criticism was the smell of citronella candles while we ate outside. But I think that was to be expected. I just don’t like the smell.
An unbelievable culinary experience tucked away in a Charleston neighborhood. Our server was top notch and gave us the history of the building and explained the menu to us (and let us ask questions! it was amazing because we had questions and they were very patient and kind in their answers). Then the food, oh the food! Amazing is a start to describe it, but it was one of the best meals I've ever had. If I ever find myself back in Charleston for any reason, the #1 thing I will attempt to do is dine here again.
