First of all. It takes alot to surprise me. And being a 12 generation Charleston local. There is some fine food here. And I've seen good and great come and go. Anyway. The sweet potatoes fries. Are to die for. .... from may places on this planet I have been to. I have never had as good.... You have to have them if you are within 100 miles. And the sandwich was a top 5. Chicken sandwich also.I've never said thanks to a restaurant. But thanks for the surprise.

Great Smash Burger and Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. French Fries were very yummy, both regular and sweet potato fries.
was absolutely the best chicken sandwich I've ever had in my life. along with the sweet potato fries they do them different and there amazing. thank you from Oklahoma. when I come back will for sure be eating there again.
Boxcar Betty's is always amazing. We have never had a bad meal. The chicken is fresh and crispy. The fried pickles and green tomatoes.
Burger and fries were awesome! This place doesn't have bacon tho? Thought it wad kinda odd but eh, it's fine. They had some kind of bacon jam, but not sure what that is? 16$ for a meal, smash burger small fry and drink. It wad worth the price tho. Will definatly come back soon.
I didn’t get a photo of my food but I got the chicken tenders and it was enough food for me and my boyfriend to split and still have a nice little lunch, the chicken tenders were so good and so were the french fries. We got ranch and honey mustard and they were both also very impressive. Feeling very content after eating this meal :)
Close to our hotel so decided to drop by. Place is pretty rustic so don't come for the atmosphere only the food. Had the obligatory fried chicken sandwich, which is a build your own kind of thing with regards to sauces and toppings, and it was very tasty. Fries were very good as well and the s'more macarons was a great way to finish. Worth a stop and better than any fast food around.
Quite possibly the greatest fried chicken sandwich that I have ever been blessed to devour. Perfect coating that is just crispy enough, but not teeth-breaking crunchy. Perfect blend of creamy slaw, pickles, spicy mayo, and sweet but not too sweet peaches to balance the delectable flavors. The waffle chicken sandwich is an incredible blend of savory bacon jam, sugary maple syrup, and a touch of heat from the amazing pimiento cheese. Boxcar Betty's has a wonderful Buffalo chicken sandwich that is not to be missed! Collect them all!!!
After walking downtown Charleston, we wanted a restaurant that was family friendly and didn’t break the bank. We found Boxcar Betty’s on our way to our hotel and it didn’t disappoint! Our group tried the boxcar sandwiches and not so waffle sandwich as well as kid’s smash burgers. Each sandwich was full of flavor! We also tried the hand cut fries and fried pickles to share and they were all really good as well. Definitely recommend trying at least once! We wish there were some closer to home in the Midwest for sure!
