Fantastic little French bistro. Great wine and meat/cheese boards. Off the beaten path and great place to socailize. Indoor and outdoor seating
This place is one of those great finds that you can’t wait to tell everyone about. It is small, quaint and everyone there makes you feel like you’ve been coming there for year. They have a very nice wine selection and the food didn’t disappoint. Mousse of Duck and the cheese platter were incredible. If your not sure what to select, let them surprise you. You’ll not be disappointed. A great place to catch a drink and appetizers before dinner, something after dinner or when you feel like grazing while enjoying a nice glass of wine or espresso martini. You’ll be glad we told you about this place!!
All appeared well until I ordered a 2nd glass of wine as I had about a 3rd of a glass remaining. My new friend ordered an appetizer. The server returned, not with a new glass, not with a little single serve carafe, but the bottle and proceeded to simply top off my glass. At nearly $20 a glass, I expect a full 2nd glass. When questioned he replied he gave a full serving still. I worked in food & hospitality for the better part of 20yrs. Serving that way is just wrong outside of bottle service and kind of arguing with me is certainly wrong. The appetizer, she ordered a spinach dip crostini type dish. I saw them prepare behind the bar the dish then place in a microwave! When she began eating there were cold spots. Use a broiler, you have a kitchen. Another friend joined us later. We finally needed our checks. We tried and tried to get servers attention as we were running late for an event. But he was engrossed in a conversation at the end of the bar with 3 other employees. I finally had to walk over to them saying, "So sorry to interrupt what is obviously an important conversation but we really need our checks". No apology for ignoring us or openly socializing. When the checks came he said, "I took the liberty of splitting the appetizer for you" and walked away. It was ordered by one person, served to and eaten by one person, before our friend even arrived. I was shocked. We didn't have time to wait to have it corrected so simply paid and hurried out. Really, really out of bounds service. Won't be referring or returning again.
My husband and I wanted a great evening experience having been in Charleston many times - this restaurant has been on my list and it did not disappoint!! We had the Tuesday night tasting ( was great) and had a charcuterie board with some very special product - both people waiting on us were very special - a big thank you to Eleni and Makius for a great evening. - We got a tornado warning at the end of our dinner and they quickly handled our check so we felt safe traveling back a block and half before the storm hit ! Thank you for a great night - great service and wonderful wine ! Nikki and Robert 4/4/22
Had a wonderful experience at this Wine Bar. The server was so helpful in pairing the perfect wine with the food choices offered. My husband and I were not disappointed!! Its been 8 months since we've been here because we live 4 hrs away and we think about this wine bar all the time. We very highly recommend! Can't wait to be back!!
Wife decides that we need some culture in our lives, so she buys tickets to a VIVALD STRING QUARTET CONCERT at the Unitarian Church in C-Town. Oh, and it's candlelit! VIVALDI? STRING QUARTET? CANDLELIT? WHAT'S A UNITARIAN? Geez, if she wanted culture, I would've switched from PBR cans to bottles. I am open to reason after all. Plus, statistically, only half of couples who attend a VIVALDI STRING QUARTET CONCERT actually want to be there, and that half is FEMALE! "What about dinner" I ask, hoping to salvage at least part of the evening by going to Home Team or SOL or Orlando's Pizza. "BISTRO A VIN", she replies. "It's a cute little wine and cheese bar near the church. I'm speechless. A VIVALDI STRING QUARTET CONCERT and a WINE AND CHEESE BAR! OMG...my single friends warned me this day would come! So, after dressing "appropriately" (I ditch the sneakers for a pair of Merrell's), we head out for a night of "culture". Finding a nearby parking spot considerably brightened my mood. BISTRO A VIN is actually a neat little space with a Hoboken vibe and a terrific selection of wine and cheese. Staff is exceptionally knowledgeable and outgoing. I would come back in a minute, VIVALDI STRING QUARTET or not! p.s. The Quartet was exceptional and the Unitarian Church's acoustics superb!
The staff at 167 oyster bar recommended this place while we were waiting for a table. Great place with a laid-back vibe. Charcuterie boards are works of art! Service was very friendly.
This is a superb place for wine and small eats!! There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The service is excellent, and that counts esp during Covid. The servers were pleasant, on-the-ball and alert to customers needs and preferences. They dressed nicely as it is a nice-casual type of place but not pretentious. The decor is pleasant and I loved the poster of "Marianne". The drink menu was great and the food was excellent. I had the hummus and the blinis (with creme), both were really delicious!!
An exceptional bar with delightful fare, an extremely personable bar staff, and delicious cocktails. Came on the recommendation of my daughter and it did not disappoint. Mathis, Ian, and the crew will make sure you have a great time. Le Papillon cocktail is an experience.
Perfect start or finish to an evening out. We enjoyed a small cheese and charcuterie board and wine from their wonderful selection of French wines by the glass. A casual and very friendly vibe. We'll be regulars!
