Tonight was our first visit to Pour Richard's and it won't me my last. If I became a regular fixture at the counter bar, that would be fine by me. Tonight I tried the Short Rib, sake sole, black sticky rice, fresh maine oysters with pesto, a Lobster Vichyssoise and 2 desserts!! Oh my! it's so unique, wonderfully presented and perfectly prepared. Thank you
Yeah, this is a noisy pub atmosphere with great food and service but crazy high prices! The appetizers are about 20 bucks apiece and the entrées are between 35 and $45.Service and food quality were excellent, but for the same price you can go somewhere quiet and intimate, such as the Bluffton room, Elas, Sage room, Ombra ……. Scallop appetizer was close to 20 bucks and it was two scallops, when I asked for some bread to soak up the Mornay sauce, they don’t have bread? So we split three appetizers and then we split the grouper entrée, a bottle of wine is $36 which you can take home , Great value, I had two beers, so before a nice tip of 25% you were at $177, which is OK because it was our anniversaryMost disturbing thing is in the men’s bathroom which is used by staff as well as patrons employee clothes were there for two hours? That’s just nuts! Evidently staff member came from another job, changed his clothes? Just left them there For patrons and his fellow staff members to see for two hours?
One of the best places to eat in Bluffton! House made desert and a good wine selection.
So we went there for anniversary based on the good reviews. I would say that the service and the food was really really good. You have to understand this is a very noisy place more like the British Open pub, but the prices are more like a quiet upscale restaurant perhaps on the water, like Elas , Ombra, the Sage room, Bluffton room…… the better appetizers are about 20 bucks and the entrées are between 35 and $45 So we had three appetizers, the scallop appetizer had two scalps it was $20, I asked for some bread but they don’t have bread, that’s $10 a scallop Then we split the grouper, wine prices are very fair you got a bottle that you can take home for 36 hours and I had two beers, our total bill was $177 for 25% tip because our server was great, I think her name was Beth So I just think for that price there’s better options for a quiet high quality dinner? The real creepy thing is that in the men’s bathroom what an employees it just changes clothes and left his old clothes bear for two hours? This is the only men’s bathroom so you think that a staff member would’ve seen that? I mean really three pairs of shoes can’t so short and nose probably some underwear underneath in the pile?
Very expensive for the quality of the food. Waitress that felt she needed to read the entire menu to us…….I can read, Thanks. ? No ice in the water is a concept that I don’t like at all. Not for a restaurant in this country. My wife’s grouper wasn’t grouper……it was Halibut, I know fish, but no biggie. My NY strip steak was very bland, definitely not prime as advertised and stacked on top of over cooked string beans cooked in bacon flavor. Not a fan of bistro stacking my food either. Twice baked potato that Sysco Foods must have made. Beyond boring! Only way to get it that hot is to micro wave it…….wasn’t really worth eating anyway. I left it. And the waitress carried on and on about how wonderful a fried egg was topping everything…….she can’t eat anything without an egg on top of it now……well, not that great really. A very hard cooked fried egg that added nothing. When I say hard cooked, I mean hard cooked! I would never go back here. I cook better, and eat better at home. Longhorn Steak House actually makes a much better steak than this place does. In fact Longhorn does everything better than this place does. This place reminds me of a NY deli that serves breakfast then transitions thru lunch into dinner with no real idea what the quality difference in cooking might be.The highlight of the evening was looking to see who was driving the brand new Rolls Royce parked out front……….that was cool! ?. Other than that, it was not memorable at all, and won’t ever suggest to anyone we ever go back.Cranes in Hilton Head puts this place in short pants. I’ll drive a little further next time. Thanks, I will! And the two most mislabeled fish in the restaurant business, grouper, and sea bass. I’m sure your purveyor tells you it’s grouper and you believe him……good for you! I’ve fished in more places than you’ve eaten……I know what grouper looks like. And if I want water without ice, I’ll fly, not drive further to Central America. It’s a big thing there too. Just doesn’t work in America. ?
Food quality and presentation is exceptional. The service is excellent. However the meals are seriously overpriced and the restaurant is dark, dank and in serious news of updating. The open concept is odd for a restaurant that size.
Excellent food. Small quiet atmosphere. Always something new to try
wonderful food, great service ,friendly comfortable atmosphere. would highly recommend this place!
Food was outstanding as always, and the desert was exceptional. Veal chop is crazy good. Always a joy to visit with Ally and Richard.
We continue to visit Pour Richards, bringing family and visitors with us. The chef does an outstanding job with the food and the presentation and his wife makes super desserts. It’s in the top three favorite places we love to eat in the entire county.
