Quite a mixed review - food flavors were generally good but sometimes overpowering. The garlic was strong with the spinach and blue cheese as an ingredient was also overdone. Texture was also an issue: undercooked fish, breading on scallops was soggy because juice from side dish coated the bottom of the whole plate. Finally one of the specials was called:” bow-tie pasta”, yet when they ran out (7:00 was still early in the evening), they substituted spaghetti which was a poor choice and they also didn’t notify us. I think you could have a better experience than we did - but we would not come back.
Great meal, nice ambiance in an intimate dining room. I had an excellent New York strip, and the boss loved her flounder. Make a reservation, as it is small, popular venue.
We went there for our anniversary tonight, we ate there before years ago but tonight! Holy cow! DISSATISFIED to say the least. She crab soup had to be sent back, calamari was over cooked. I ordered the special stuff flounder with stuff Dufuskie crab, well it was a small roll up of store brought flounder and something that was yellow that was supposed to be crab meat! Yuk!!! And the same boring mash potatoes with hard Veggie mix! All for $90. May River Grill gets our rotten tomatoes award!! The waiter did take my wife’s she crab soup off the bill.
I had the best meal tonight the house made raspberry vinaigrette is the best tasting dressing i have ever had and Norwegian salmon dijonaise is to die for,the sauce was amazing the salmon was cooked to perfection ,for dessert I recommend the chocolate mousse you'll never go wrong.
The food was good, our waiter was very polite but the Owner of May River Grill could certainly take a lesson in customer service from his staff. No wonder there were several empty tables on a holiday weekend. This used to be our favorite restaurant and the place we went on special occasions since it’s quite pricey but sadly it has fallen off the list of favorite restaurants because of the way the owner talked to us.
We were so looking forward to try this establishment after the many positive reviews. First the service, atmosphere, appetizer and dessert were wonderful. My wife ordered the Seafood Pasta Pomodoro, very disappointing, the sauce had no taste and was watery. I had the Scaloppini of Veal with Marsala Mushroom Demi Glaze, the veal was very tuff and not taste. The Charlie’s She Crab soup was UNDERWHELMING, very little taste to it and the crab meat was almost none existing. Sorry, but very disappointed
Cheaper than island restaurants and broad, impressive menu with excellent execution. Wait staff could be better focused, but the kitchen is terrific. An overlooked gem. Reservations recommended but hostess is LOUSY about follow-up and claims voice-mails were not left. Happened multiple times. Recommend just go earlier than fashionable.
Had a brief wait for our table so hostess Megan brought us wine while we waited. We’re seated quickly by Megan with a big smile which made a great dining experience even better. If you like fresh water fish, highly recommend the Lake Erie perch or pickerel. Excellent!
By far the best meal around! An easy trip over the bridge to the May River Grill…..it is a must! You must make a reservation… great staff and the food was tremendous…from the oysters to the salads…the halibut was excellent and the ribs were perfection! Lovely crowd helped make a spectacular evening. Well done everyone!
Excellent service by Victoria. Raw oysters and soft shell crab appetizers were very good. We both had the Wiener schnitzel. Fantastic. Bartender makes great drinks.
