Best shrimp and grits I've ever had!
Great one man band we didn't know would be there. Outside seating there is a bonus (Few flies but probably inevitable)
Food was good but service was poor and the place was half fulll so no excuse why we had to ask for more water and napkins. Also, donât like 3% credit card fee and excuse that the outside fans donât work when it is 95 degrees outside and the flies are all over our food. Wonât be returning which is disappointing since we just moved to Bluffton.
The music was fine but it was difficult to talk. My chicken salad sandwich was good if a little difficult to keep together. The macaroni and cheese side was forgettable. My wife's crab stuffed flounder was just ok. Not much crab. The service was excellent.
Excellent service and food. We each had the Mahi Mahi grilled sandwich and had the spinach orzo salad ant the Mac n cheese as our sides. Everything was delicious and our server was very attentive. Definitely will return.
Went on a Sunday, which has a different menu than the rest of the week. Brunch is offered all day, as are some sandwiches and entrees, but not the cheese or charcutarie plates. Kinda bummed about that. The Caesar and chopped salads were very good, but the tuna app was cooked more than we liked. Our waitress, while attentive, made several mistakes on our dinner orders, which the kitchen quickly corrected. Maybe she was new. Regardless, it didn't take too much away from our delightful dinner with friends.
Great first experience at Calhounâs. Live band was awesome, good and service were great. Would have been better if more outside fans had been running, for both the heat and to help with flies. Overall, would definitely return.
First time diners. Was surprised how good the food was. Ate outside. Looking forward to returning. Great Old Fashion
Not much ambiance. Food ok.
The food was ok. We had the chicken sandwich, the salmon, the prime rib sandwich, a burger, and fried shrimp. Nothing was bad, but nothing was memorable. The Mint Julep was too sweet and watered down. As to ambiance -- the seats in the booths were ripped. These should be fixed. Overall, the tavern is much nicer looking from the outside. Inside, it isn't a destination where you would want to go relax and hang out for the evening. If I ever want a pour of whiskey, I may go back and sit at the bar, but otherwise, there are better options around.
