My family and I went here last night. We were tired and hungry and just looking for a quick easy bite. This place didn't disappoint at all. As a food reviewer, I don't think I have ever had a more satisfying meal this year at a restaurant. We were helped immediately and with a smile. Our waitress ( Angel I think) was kind, consistent, and always had fresh drinks. The fried chicken was Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. All the sides were obviously home made and with care. The desserts were also made with pride and it was obvious that these cooks and servers loved their place of business. Everything tasted like "Grandma's" home cooking and was the southern soul food I definitely was needing. On another note- I have no gallbladder and sometimes get sick if the food is overly processed or greasy. Not here!!! I was so happy to eat out, have a wonderful family meal, and surprise - not have any tummy issues either!! Which says fresh ingredients!! An answer to my prayers of finding a restaurant when in town for business!! Thank you for a great meal!!
The food is good although the prices are a little on the higher end. I spent $15 for a hamburger steak and no it did not come with a drink. The prices have went from reasonable to overpriced in a year. If you want a meal for the kids you have to eat in or pay adult prices. The food is actually pretty good. Guess you get what you pay for. Be sure to check your food before leaving. It has been wrong a few times.
It was so good. I just love their vegetables. I can eat them all dayThe cornbread need a little sugar in it. I made it work though. My son went with me. He told me he was going home to sleep. I wanted to do the same. There is nothing like a good meal
Such great hometown, southern environment. We got the chicken and dumplings and would definitely get it again. I personally LOVE their breakfast (bacons a bit salty tho). They are all so friendly and efficient. We had at least 3 waitress check to make sure we were being served. They got everything to us quickly and we're very kind. We never had an empty glass. Can't wait to bring our friends there.
I enjoyed a very nice breakfast with family. It's obviously a favorite with locals. The restaurant was busy and the food was standard diner fare but good.
Food is always fresh and the staff is always so kind. We are addicted to Thursdays turkey and dressing. Definitely give them a try when in the area. Great job Mama Penns
The food was good and service was great as well. There was hardly a wait at that time of day not sure how busy it can actually get. It did not take long at all to wait for my food to come out. I plan on returning for dinner at some point and will definitely review it when that time comes.
Good old fashioned home cooking. The fried chicken is amazing as are all the veggies. The staff is very friendly. Great affordable place to eat. Will definitely frequent this restaurant!!!
Called in two meat & 3 plates to go. They were very busy and keep the flow of customers and to go orders moving pretty fast. The food on both plates was very good and my wife commented it tasted like her mom used to cook. Thought it was a little pricey. $12 for a meat & 3? Has prices really gone up this much? These meals used to be $7.99 to $8.99. The food was good but there are other restaurants that offer meat and vegetable plates that are just as good and much cheaper in price.
review is for hamburger steak. no flavor. paid 60 cents for gravy and onions, which is ridiculous bc who orders a hamburger steak with no gravy and onions? so the onions were straight off the onion, not cooked as supposed to be. in the picture i uploaded you can see the maybe a 1/3 of a raw onion and like 2tbsp? of gravy LOL. had to laugh bc who does that? seriously, please season the hamburger steaks and serve it with COOKED/ SAUTEED ONIONS AND GRAVY, that way you can justify charging extra for whats supposed to come on it anyway. other than that we were seated fast and customer service was par. ill eat there again but i wont have the hambooger stick. (yes i know i misspelled it)
