Tallulah’s is okay for Mexican food. Coming from Southern California, and being of Mexican descent, my standards are a little above average. Nonetheless I was optimistic, however, I was slightly dissatisfied. One, the rice isn’t up to par and is often crunchy or feels separate from the sauce. Two, the choice of contents and composition aren’t what you can find traditionally in a burrito. It feels like an approximation of Mexican food by someone trying to replicate the feel.
Ahhh Mexican food - that filling hearty cuisine that rarely miss its gustatory marks. Was just looking for a well-reviewed Mexican place to get our taco-rice-and-beans-nacho fix while in Providence for the day and Tallulah’s came up on top. But of course we gotta try it, and we weren’t disappointed at all. Hearty portions, reasonably priced, too. It wasnt hopping or mad busy in the middle of the day, but people were in and out pretty steadily - takeout or dine in. Speaking of which, there are only outdoor dining. Seating is on either side of the building that houses the kitchen-cum-pickup area-register. Open space with communal tables. Not really sure what the setup is during high summer or dead of winter , but if i go by the people who ate and took orders out in the whole hour we had our meal, i would say there must be some coverage of this outdoor seating arrangement - reason i knocked a star off . The food there is just too good for them to close the place down. In any case, i hope u try their offerings. Highly recommend!
YUM! Their chips are seasoned to perfection, best tortilla chips ever! The tacos tastes so fresh and delicious. The wait was super long! Make sure to order far in advance.
The best taco's around! I'm a vegetarian and these are amazing. Options for everyone and everything is very authentic. We have eaten here and taken out. Love, love, love!
The burritos here are thicc, delicious and very reasonably priced. The wait can be a bit long if you go during a busy time like lunch so I’d recommend ordering ahead. I got the veggie burrito with chipotle potatoes and it was fire
We had heard about this place both online as well as on the 'Phantom Gourmet' and so, we thought we would give it a taste. However, when we arrived, we are told that they are only doing take-out orders. Granted, I understand that many businesses are doing so for well-known reasons, however they did not ADVERTISE this information anywhere. That detail is not on their own website, not on their FB page and the online search engines all show them with 'dine-in' as an option. Poor business etiquette and so we refused to get the take-out. Feh!
This place was very close to 4 stars for me. You can tell they use quality ingredients and the flavors are quite good. Off of the food alone it would likely be 4 stars. There are several things holding them back from that. The thing that is the worst to me is that they don’t even offer you a single hot sauce with their food. They charge $.75 per sauce which is wildly overpriced compared to the best Mexican places I’ve been to that have cheaper prices and a 100% free sauce bar.The food is good quality but very inconsistent in portions. Sometimes the burrito is delicious and other times it’s way too much rice. The nachos are sometimes layered and delicious and other times just a top layer with chips. The Torta can be the best thing on the menu or just a sad sandwich you regret paying $10 for.The price is high compared to what you get. If they took care of the issues I brought forth previously this wouldn’t be an issue for me.Realistically I’ll still end up ordering here as they’re the only option for Mexican in walking distance of Fox Point. A little bit goes a long way. Hopefully they will treat their customers right and start offering at least a side of sauce at no charge with their meals.
Tacos were very very good. Carnitas were my favorite. They were over priced though 20 bucks for 3 tacos is a bit much. Didn't like that there was no inside seating. But damn good tacos. Margarita wasnt anything special or even good but food was.very good
Fabulous tacos and burritos. Plenty of seating at the picnic tables outside. Can't wait to return!
I was skeptical at first, New York City prices for College Town Food in Rhode Island??? However, the Al Pastor Burrito was wrapped perfectly with a bit of kick and gauc,. As I ate the burrito, each bite just got more and more satisfying. The tacos were exceptional too according to my girlfriend who ate it the next day. Tho the burrito was worth it, can’t say that the tacos were
