The smoked chicken was good. Everything else left much to be desired. The mac and cheese was noodles with a horrible barely cheese sauce, the cornbread was dry and the brisket ... was extremely chewy... I couldn't chew through it or get it down chewy. Maybe my husband will go back for the wings but thats about it.
The BBQ was great we ordered the Huge Platter, mac & cheese, potatoes wedges, beans all very good, loved the pickles and slaw. Drinks were so good, atmosphere was relaxed and totally cool. It is a small restaurant, some parking avail in the lot and on street. I wish they opened earlier than 5pm. Very good experience can't wait to go back!
Food was excellent; 10 out of 10. Wait staff was great. Would highly recommend this place.
Food is Fantastic! Everything about this place is worth a visit.
The food here is incredible. The staff is so very friendly, accommodating, and patient. The general atmosphere is simply amazing....I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious BBQ!
This is an updated review after a takeout order in Mid May of 2022. I am upset that the quality and taste of the food of Great Northern is no longer worthy of its 4 star status. The meat was overcooked and dry and the side dishes were trying to be something that they weren't - original and tasty. This establishment has gone downhill and is a shadow of its former self. Look for quality BBQ elsewhere.
My fiancé went here for dinner tonight. He ordered the ribs, and said the food was good. However there was one issue….Discrimination. My fiancé works with a highly trained guide dog as he is blind. He relies on his trained dog to navigate his surroundings given his sight loss. He and his family sat down to eat but it began to get chilly. His father asked if it was at all possible to move inside because of the weather change. At first they were fine with it, and said that they could move inside. However the hostess said they may not go inside because they don’t allow dogs inside. My fiance explained that his dog is a highly trained service dog and will just rest calmly on the floor at his feet. He also explained that service dogs are protected by the ADA and that they must allow his dog inside as it isn’t a pet dog. They said they knew that he was a service dog but that they still don’t allow dogs. They said they’d give his dog a pork chop and some water to make up for it. My fiancé felt embarrassed and humiliated. His dog legally is allowed to be inside. The staff at this restaurant seem to need training on the ADA. This is highly illegal. I am also blind and work with a guide dog. Things like this make me not want to support places that aren’t welcoming to those who need service dogs to mitigate their disabilities. Unless they get trained on ADA compliance, I don’t think I’ll be eating here anytime soon.
I went in on 5/3 at around 8 pm after attending a political event. I was burnt out and I didn't know what to expect. The food was fine, but honestly, the waitresses were amazing! They were attentive, but gave the right amount of space and they were funny and made my night after a very long evening. The vibe was amazing and I have been meaning to go for a while, I certainly want to come back.
Disappointing. The drinks were great, fast service by pleasant servers, and the atmosphere is vibey….BUT the food is trash. The ribs were dry, the burnt ends were chewy, the Mac n cheese was watery, and the greens were pure vinegar. The best thing we had was the potato wedges. The whole table was clamoring for the kids potatoes bc nothing else was tasty. Not one single thing I would eat again by choice.
#RiFoodFightsBrisket Nachos were out of this world. 6/5Brisket Sliders delicious as well with nice house pickles. 5/5Mac and Cheese was the creamiest I've had in recent memory. 6/5Overall a great eating experience. Cocktail menu and beers available but not sampled.
