Upon entering the establishment we were greeted by very friendly and inviting employees. First impressions were great. We were told to take a seat at a table anywhere we desired and then we could come up to the counter to order. Our server was attentive and refilled our water which was appreciated. My dining companion ordered Agedashi tofu, and they said that it was spot on from the tofu, flakes to the broth which were all very complimentary.Thinking that It would make sense to order the dish deemed signature of an establishment on the menu for a first time visit I ordered the pork Tonkatsu, unfortunately I was not as lucky as my companion.White Miso Soup: A celebratory richer soup which is common when getting Miso soup out at restaurants this was right on, the wakame was the perfect texture and flavor, a great addition to the salted just right soup, the tofu lush adding a nice texture and taste contrast.White Rice: The rice was pretty standard perhaps a bit less than ideal in terms of temperature and texture.Side Salad: While the side salad was dressed well and sufficient as a side it was far from what is traditionally served with Tonkatsu which is normally composed of a cabbage salad and to my understanding a different dressing rather than what was received. Perfectly fine otherwise, even if i believe the traditional would have suited the dish better.Tonkatsu Sauce: The Tonkatsu sauce was composed well and tasted the way it was supposed too with strong complimentary flavors.Tonkatsu: This is where I was the most disappointed. The pork Tonkatsu itself was a bit overdone, no where to be found was the rich fatty succulent meat which you hope for in a Tonkatsu, while it wasn't inedible the fact that it was bland and somewhat dry really took away from the experience, even with the addition of the delicious sauce this dish could not be saved from mediocrity. While the service was great and it's clear some of the dishes on the menu are much better than others the lack of consistency across the menu and the lack of traditional additions on certain items which really does enhance the experience keeps this establishment at an average 3. If you do decide to go there, based on my experience I'd suggest ordering something other than the Tonkatsu I am not likely to return for awhile and if I do It'll definitely be for something else.

For a little hole in the wall place, I didn’t expect much based on what it looked like on the outside. Wow. I was wrong. What divine deliciousness!! The food was so incredible; I am now in a food coma.

Parking can be challenging during peak but most seem to walk to this place, so we found a spot. No reservations taken here, first come first serve. You grab your own open table, order at the counter but they bring food to you. Wine/Beer selection is “meah” but you don’t go for that. The food is amazing, especially for the price, I thought it was incredible. I will most certainly be coming back and highly recommending this to friends! ALL the food looked fresh and there was plenty of it, cant wait to go back and try something else.

Just waoo! The Food is delicious. For me an A+, they serve a generous portion and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I don't give the 5 stars because I didn't like their ordering style. After you are seated, you have to order and pay at the register and it can be uncomfortable when the place is packed and busy, but besides that great place.

Food was really good and service was very quick. You can sit at table but you have to order at the counter then they bring you the food. We would go again for sure

Great location! It is really close to campus, the price is okay, not very high. Food is in a small size, and I need to wait for a table.

food was VERY good. located in a beautiful part of town with very charming and welcoming staff. would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Providence/ Federal Hill.

The place was super cute, staff was very friendly and food was good! Atmosphere was family friendly and also a great place for a date night with your partner. Wish I knew ahead of time that we could make reservations because we had to wait about 45 min for a table but besides that it was a good experience. This is not a place you get waited on. Your order your food with the cashier, sit at your table (or wait for your food if it’s take out) and they bring your food out to you. We will be coming again :)

The food and the flavors of everything is just amazing. Wish my stomach was bigger, I would have eaten more! Delicious!

We've eaten at both locations and both are worth visiting-- different menus with a bit of overlap. Angell Street has a veggie fried dumpling option that's raised to a "5" because of the generous portion of spicy Asian slaw.Benefit Street has super friendly staff, a few specials in addition to the regular menu including an Asian-style spinach salad with a sesame dressing.
