Thank you, Justin!!
They seem to try to hard without the skills to back it up. Iâm an experienced diner. This place sucked at designing a menu and describing the dishes. Maybe it was the chef or the waitress who failed, but there was an entrée called simply âBaconâ. Then it mentioned a few accompaniment but veneer explained how the heck bacon was the entrée. It might have been good but Iâm not taking a flier on bacon. There was also âbaked broccoliâ with no explanation what they would do to make that savory even for a vegetarian. Really, it was like that a lot. Both of our meals were rather bland. There was one weird burrata with cashew appetizer that was interesting and quite nice. The local-caught oysters were good, but the accompaniment was bland again. The drinks at the bar were mediocre and the bartender only mildly attentive. The Pinot Grigio by the glass with dinner was very nice though.
Disappointed experience.
A bit pricey, but food was good. This is a cafe, so do not expect an extensive menu. The green salad, lobster pasta, and roasted broccoli with 7 oz filet add-on were tasty; the oysters were fresh. The service was amazing from the moment we arrived at the hotel, including the valet attendant, hostess, waitress/servers, and manager. All were extremely attentive, proactive, and professional. The cafe overlooks the ocean and is right next to Eaton Beach. The view and the service are worth the splurge.
I was very disappointed in the prices ! It is a rip off. The most beautiful setting, excellent service but minuscule servings and exorbitant prices . Will not go back anytime soon!
Sit outdoors for one of the best views in Newport. Food was great, but touch on expensive side. Still very good overall and bonus is valet parking in impossible parking Newport.
Gorgeous views and good food. Nora was lovely. Enjoyed ourselves for a memorable lunch.
Yet another pleasant surprise in Newport, where a primo address/location does equate to lower standards in food and service. Pretty much everything at the Cafe at the Chanler was extremely well done. -/ right from the excellent professionals at the car valet. Professional, quick, and courteous on a relatively hot day. Meanwhile, the food was inventive and tasty, starting with the near perfectly done fresh greens salad. The rigatoni dish was superb, the beef in the cheeseburger was top notch (a little underdone per the requested medium, but otherwise excellent). Good wait service, knowledgeable about the offerings. The view and Ma sti on surroundings are just spectacular. Highly recommend.
We loved everything about this restaurant. The service was great, and the food was outstanding. It was kind of pricey, but what do you expect from Newport in the summertime?
Perched above the Cliff Walk & viewing the First Beach, this a spectacular setting. Dotted with inviting lawn chairs, the Cafe ( a covered patio) has a dazzling menu, solid but limited wine & beer selections, tempting cocktails & a first rate staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely lunch & while somewhat pricey ( itâs Newport), it was a truly delectable experience. Mix in some celebrity sighting, it was a memorable occasion. Canât wait to go back!
