My husband and I dined at this restaurant (my second time there) last week. I love the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant and the beautiful bar area. Lots of soft pillows to lean against and perfect lighting. We were finally seated (more about that later) and were greeted by our lovely, very knowledgeable server. The menu was similar to what I had remembered but maybe a few more vegetarian options. Our drinks and appetizers (along with an amuse bouche) arrived shortly. My husbands order of mussels was quite generous! Definitely could have passed as an entree complete with wonderful crusty bread! We both had the steak frites and both orders cooked very differently to perfection! Sadly, we were both too full to indulge in a dessert. But we had a wonderful leisurely meal. We love the fact that this restaurant is not in the heavy touristy area and it appeared to have more “locals” dining along side of us! The reason I could not give it 5 stars was our first impression walking in to our confirmed reservation made three weeks prior. We were first shown to a high top and I told the hostess because of my bad back those seats would be extremely uncomfortable. We were told no other seating available and offered a suggestion of your new sister restaurant in town. We asked if they could make a phone call to see if we could be accommodated before going there and our request was denied!! We were baffled by the lack of help by this hostess. We were standing there trying to decide what to do when the other hostess said if we could wait 2-3 minutes there was an empty table that just needed clearing/cleaning. Of course we waited and it turned out to be a lovely table in the corner and by the way two tables along the wall right next to us remained VACANT the entire time we dined!! Why weren’t one of those tables offered when we rejected the high top or the table that we got?? Your restaurant was more than willing to have a couple walk out without the staff looking around or problem solving!! Fortunately, your server and the food made up for our negative start to our otherwise delicious evening !

$15 for a 5oz Glass of Wine Says It All, we’d just come from a place on the water in Newport where we paid $15 for 9oz l. Wanted a break from seafood, so we stopped here. We’ve eaten at a lot of brasseries, and this was terrible. Small portion of poor quality steak, weak salad, and so-do frites. And then there was the wine, which was stunning. The bottle went for $60, but they charge $15 for 5oz of the same wine. Apart from friendly waitstaff this place is a terrible value.

We have loved this restaurant for many years, but last night was a definite miss. The street corn was almost inedible (and $18) and cauliflower appetizer was the smallest I have ever had there ($14). Wonderful salad and steak, so definitely worth the trip for those. Hoping for a menu upgrade on the appetizers!

The food was good but the portions were so small and SO expensive! I’m not exaggerating when I say that 1/4 of a grilled corn with sauce was $18 that they called “poutine.” The only reason I’m giving it two stars is because after the meal the lovely waitress gave us a brownie on the house which was, I’m not joking, less than and inch big. I don’t know what triggered within me but the shock of the size of the brownie after our outrageously expensive micro meal made me bust into laughter. I laughed so hard that I cried and couldn’t breathe for a full minute. Overall, I made memories that will last a lifetime with my family but I’m pretty sure you can find a less expensive way to get a really great laugh and a much better meal.

A good restaurant but slow service and a weird tasting chicken sandwich (the mayo aioli and barbecue sauce ( I think?) clashed. My wife’s BLT was good but with a very thick bacon and a gray but holy bread it was a bit tougher to eat. Limited luncheon menu didn’t help.

Just WOW! Some of the best service Newport has seen, and I’m not even going to start with how good the dishes were. A little bit on the expensive side, but the quality and the presentation were extraordinary.

Had a very nice meal and would definitely go back. Portion sizes were great - not sure what the issue was from other reviews? Could easily make a meal with 2 starters.First, had a tasty amouse bouche and bread brought to the table. Service was quick and friendly. Great ambiance. Delicious food. Beet salad was excellent, as were the roast chicken ( with peas, fiddleheads, celeriac and fennel) and pork roulade. Great balance of flavours, nicely executed dishes. A very enjoyable evening out. Prices were reasonable. Nice wine list.

Had high hopes for the Stoneacre Brasserie but was sorely disappointed. Service was bad. The waitress seemed disinterested and almost like she didn't want to take our order. I had to go out of my way to get her attention every time. Food was okay but at these prices was expecting a lot more. Ambiance is nice in the front but weird in the back. What was weird was that they had all of the white patrons sit in the front but all of the racial minorities sit in the back. It felt really weird and off. I don't want to call Stoneacre Brasserie racist but I saw what I saw. Oh, and they wanted to charge me $2 more for my burger since I got fries instead of a salad when there was no mention of a fries surcharge on the menu or from our waitress. Seriously who charges extra for fries when you're ordering a burger? Skip this place. You'd be doing yourself a big favor.

The food is terrible ? you order a lobster Benedict and comes with so much kale ? is insane. And the worse thing that in the menu don’t even mention kale

I cannot understand the excellent ratings by reviewers unless they were so overcome by alcoholic beverages that they did not notice the high prices for small portions of ordinary foods. In a very pleasantly decorated large room with a mix of high tops, bar seating (very popular) and a smaller area of tables for four there was no noise abating material and the noise could be raucous and very loud despite the restaurant not being full. A few slices of bread triangles were served with a very small amount of oil, an amuse buche was also brought, a very small serving on a spoon, and in the end a cubed piece of a plain brownie with the bill. The food I sampled was very salty. The pasta dish was served in a rather insipid watery sauce with an abundance of pasta with a small amount of its protein add ins (mostly mushrooms). The steak was almost burned on the edges and did not melt in your mouth. The salad was an overpriced small portion on a large plate. The dessert offerings are also limited ($9.00) to three- a creme brulee, a milk chocolate mousse, and an unknown cobbler, and even the menu looked tired.Service was very good and very friendly but a bit slow despite a number of staff greeting and standing around. Parking is metered on the street and difficult. There were not enough reasons to return as there are so many other Newport restaurants comparably priced with better offerings and better variety.
