Good variety on the menu and the food itself was quite good. There was about a 30 minute waiting time for a table (visited in July 2022 so admittedly this is a busy time for Newport). The outdoor seating area is animal friendly and I observed that they provide water bowls for dogs on hot days, which I felt was a nice touch.The main thing preventing this from being a 5 star review is the service being a little slow, mostly due to servers appearing to be assigned to a large number of tables each.
Went for dinner. Food was just okay, not great. I had fish and chips. The fish was tough. Ordered blueberry beer but it was just beer with blueberries floating in it. Very relaxing atmosphere. Dog friendly.
Great public house. NICE open air tables and bar. Great burger. Guinness draft.
We had read that the fountain in the outdoor area was popular with young kids and they were right. Our almost 4-year-old grandson played for 20 minutes with several other youngsters until our food came. And a couple with a dog sat next to us which he loved. We were able to get a table with no wait at 5: 00 on a Monday evening.
Lots of outdoor seating and dog friendly, and the water fountain is geared up for kids. serving a lot of grilled and Caribbean dishes. I ate the Chicken Curry Saute which was as tasty as I expected it to be. There's a wide variety of drink selections here particularly for mixed house drinks. Restaurant has no parking and is situated in a pedestrian heavy zone.
In between a 3 and a 4 star. Place is fun and lively decent for kids since they have the fountain with toy ducks and nets. Reason for just 3 stars was because food was average, fish was way over cooked and chewy but all other meals at table were fine. Also no ocean view, hard to give 5 stars in Newport to a place with no ocean view.
One of rare spots in Newport that has it’s own parking lot, and chance of you getting a seat at lunch/dinner hours w/o a reservation. They have both indoor and outdoor tables. There’s a kids friendly fountain in the middle with toys, very popular with kids of all ages.Food wise they are decent. Seafood items are made much better than other kinds. We really liked the curry shrimp, mussels and seafood paella. The chicken wings were average, needed some more seasoning and moist.Overall a decent option to dine, right outside of crazy busy area of Newport.
One of my favorite stops in Newport. Staff very friendly. They had a fountain with toys for kids to play with. Very family friendly. Pet friendly as well! It's outdoors with umbrellas. The clam chowder was absolutely amazing. I will come back here just for that. The salad and lobster roll was good. However I was puzzled with the amount of fries I had with the lobster roll. Not that much hahah. Mudslide was a must try. Def will come back again!
Staff is amazing and always checking in on your group. Great food, menu has the expected pub food but surprising has some out of the norm did too. Curry shrimp saute was amazing! Mussles we're tastey too!
We liked the outdoor seating. Service was nice. However for a place called O'Briens, there was minimal Irish fare. No Bangers and Mash, Shepherds Pie, or stew to be found. Food that we did get was, fine, under seasoned. And who serves a Hot Toddy in a beer glass?
