While the interior of this coffeehouse is super cute and smells delicious, there is no place to sit inside so on a chilly, windy day your hot coffee becomes lukewarm quickly. We had chocolate croissant, ham and cheese stuffed croissant and blueberry muffin. The sandwich was the best, the muffin was average and the chocolate croissant didn’t have a lot of chocolate and the pastry was a little on the dense side. The coffees were good, even if choked quickly but the hot chocolate started warm at best. There is an indoor space used only for storage, but if the coffeehouse ever turned that into seating, the experience would be greatly improved!
This is indeed a place with servers who have a BAD ATTITUDE! In their minds “The CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS WRONG”. They justify all their mistakes by making excuses with an authoritarian attitude and seem to work hard to embarrass the customer. I’m once and done. Never go there again!!! Too many other nice welcoming places that want my business.
Everything!! Not a bad dish on the menu. It’s usually crowded, but may have a slow time at SOME point of the day…
A great spot for a filling hearty breakfast yo start your day.
Have been to Mokka many times over the years, and generally looked forward to good coffee and breakfast fare in a funky atmosphere (outdoor, seating area full of interesting antiques). However it seems they have shrunk the menu, increased their prices materially, and cranked up the attitude, now displaying multiple lists of rules which are longer than the food offering. If you do go, recommend the egg/croissant breakfast sandwiches, just be aware they will charge extra for everything, including friendliness.
Mokka is a great place. I really love their Lebanese Lemonade and their Peanut soup. The staff has always been polite and considerate to me. I'm always amazed at the people that will leave a bad review because the world doesn't drop everything and cater to them.
My family and I used to love to visit Mokka every time we traveled to Newport. After this past Saturday, however, we will not be returning. We stopped in for lunch, as we love the seating area in back. Having a picky eater in our family, we have trouble finding good places to eat. After we saw they offered a tuna melt, we asked one of the employees if they could make a plain grilled cheese sandwich. We were told no, they only have what's on the two chalkboards. I said that I thought since they offered a tuna melt, they could make a grilled cheese. Nope. Only what's on the chalkboards. I could not believe they were willing to forgo a $50 check over a simple grilled cheese. Their loss. I took my business elsewhere. Too bad for us, because we really liked it, but their customer service could use work.
Worth the wait! I recommend the garden of eden and the chai tea latte is insanely good.
