Coffee Grinder always had the best coffee and delicious snacks, but now they have a bright, roomy atmosphere to go along with the wonderful coffee and sides. I think the new location is way better than the tiny corner they used to have and look forward to many skinny cappuccinos with extra foam and extra shots made by the best barista ever. XXOO

The new Coffee Grinder location at 337 Thames Street, Newport is “SO” much better than her previous location. Bright! Airy! Large windows! Water view! Fabulous pastries! Spectacular coffees! Lucious Teas! Eye opening delicious espressos! “GREAT” prices! Everything you would want and expect in a professionally run Coffee Shop in Newport! The owner is there everyday welcoming each guest with a whimsical conversation and smiles and always ‘thanking’ each guest personally. After “25” consecutive years of the Coffee Grinder being in business in Newport obviously she has to be doing everything precisely to the expectations of her costumers and to the height of perfection. And she is. As costumers for the past 15 years, I recommend the Coffee Grinder with heart felt appreciation for each visit and making us feel like family. The lyrics to the theme song of ‘Cheers’ comes to mind each time we walk in the door of Coffee Grinder: ? Making your way in the world today takes everything you’ve got….Sometimes you gotta go where everybody knows your name.? Love this place ❤️

Talk about sticker shock! $19 for a coffee, banana and yogurt/ granola! Insane. I get that it’s a small business and times are tough, but even $10 would be a lot for this. They sell granola on its own. Like 3/4 cup for $5. Then you have to buy a yogurt cup- another $5. And I guess maybe $4 for a banana?. All in $19+ for what should be $7.50. Pretty sad. I won’t be going back there again. Period.

Best Coffee place in Newport

I try not to write negative reviews unless something is pretty terrible. $30 for a tiny piece of banana bread, two terrible lattes and a bottle of water. I should have read the reviews but wouldn’t have expected to need to for a basic cup of coffee. The coffee is really bad. The place is small, absolutely no covid protocol and there is nothing there worth these prices. It’s one of the biggest scams I’ve come across in awhile and I am going to write to the Better Business Bureau.

I live in New YorkAnd have been goingTo her coffee shopFor over 20 years. Now I hear she has to close after busting her butt all the years? She is a very nice person and hope not true

Me and my girlfriend stopped to grab a hot drink and order a small hot chocolate. Hot chocolate is not what we got, we got a dixie cup full of lukewarm milk with Hersheys syrup on it and had the nerve to charge us $8.00. Absolutely ridiculous. Do not recommend.

My partner and I LOVE this coffee shop!! The owner is an absolute sweetheart. She makes all the breads and cookies from scratch and has a few gluten free options as well. She's a joy to visit with and we ended up going back our second day in Newport just to visit...well and to get the hot cocoa. If you're in Newport you should absolutely stop in!

I am aware everything is more expensive in a tourist place like Newport and I also know pricing is up on everything right now, but there is absolutely no justification that 2 small coffees - a cappuccino and a vanilla latte along with 1 blueberry muffin should ever cost $23 and change! I am the first to spend more for quality goods, but this is beyond ridiculous.
