The fish and chips entree is HUGE!! Very good. The cole slaw was delicious. Great service, felt like a good local place. Lobster roll was wonderful. Best meal of our trip for sure. Was recommended to us by our sailboat guide.

We used to love this place, but boy have times changed. The food is absolutely terrible and none of my family of four were able to finished our meals. The table next to us had a similar experience and sent meals back. The stuffed clams appetizer and stuffed sole entree is ALL breading and tasted like mush. Wife’s chicken parm was rubbery and used cheap tomato sauce. The worst was my daughter’s NY strip. It was tough and a cheap cut of beef. I didn’t blame her for not being able to eat it. We stopped for some pizza afterwards!

Went to this restaurant for lunch after being declined service at another restaurant for an unposted dress code. Being from the area I have eaten here many times before- especially Raw Bar Tuesday’s. Every time service was friendly and efficient. The food is always great. This time our party’s meals included shrimp scampi, salmon sandwich, seafood Mac& cheese and fish and chips- all dishes were perfect. The window seat in the front was especially nice - nice breeze coming up from the harbor. Thank you Benjamin’s for being accommodating to all!

Dinner at Benjamin's has never disappointed, and Saturday was no different. We were seated promptly for our 8:00 reservation. Service was top notch, and everything was as expected from my Manhattan to all of our dishes. Frog's legs app was on point, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their entrees. We will continue to visit Benjamin's on our vacations to Newport.

Walking by and decided to stop in for a drink. I don't know bartenders name but he went to Salva Regina on a Tennis Scholarship and never left Newport. Anyway he makes the BEST margarita even better than Mexico. I don't know what he does but he said he makes em like he drinks em! We came back again next day ordered appetizers coconut shrimp and stuffed clams both delicious I love this place seafood fresh each day great local place very friendly. A must stop in Newport

Don't pass this little gem on Thames St. It looks like a bar but the food is wonderful. My wife and I had appetizers and dinner here and were very pleased. The service was fast and our waitress was very attentive.

Alas, due to increasing food prices, it is now $1.50 Oyster on the shell, $1.75 Oyster Rockefella. Still reasonable. Both were small in size but fresh raw oyster, and very good baked rockefella. Crab cakes- Tuesday lunch special was average. Fish and chips was humongous- crispy and excellent. Scallops entree was fresh and big. All items priced reasonably.

On our first night in Newport, some random tourists recommended Benjamin's and boy we were glad they did. The upstairs dining room was very busy but the hostess told us the wait would be about 10-15 minutes and low and behold we were seated in 15 minutes! My friend and I each ordered a margarita and it was wonderfully refreshing and delicious. And to our happy surprise, we learned that there are early bird specials on Tuesday's before 7 pm - queen cut prime rib ($21), whole boiled lobster ($30) and shrimp cocktail ($?). And it was all delicious. I would have given a 5 star review but the dining area was tight and on the cold side. Aside from that, go to Benjamin's and you will have a great meal.

local haunt, amazing and well-priced food, attentive and fun staff and bartenders - honestly, I hit this place multiple times per visit to Newport, fun, crowded, full of life, and great food!! Only sneaky thing, is the bathroom situation. Love the place!!

Mi wife & I went to Benjamin's Raw Bar today for the Tuesday Specials... Plan to search for parking, as the area is very tough to park, unless you find metered parking. The Tuesday (1.00-1.75ea) specials... We had a dozen Oysters, Clams Casino, Shrimp, Oysters Rockafella & a cup of Clam Chowder... Topped off with a pint of (local) Narragansett beer. Fascinated with how many oysters were in front of us at the bar, just waiting to be consumed (that didn't take too long). Oyster expert/bartender Steve, made shucking oysters & clams look super easy. Within 25 minutes, the pile of oysters/clams went down to around 10, then was refilled with more. So good, bellies were very happy!
