I normally prefer local ice cream shops but in Newport, that experience can be a hit or a miss. Ben & Jerry's at Wharf provides a reliable experience and has some great tasting flavors. It is conveniently located and the staff is patient as you decide that flavor. Coconut Seven Layer flavor is awesome.

Stopped here for some ice cream after a walk along the harbor. Staff was ok, had 15 or so flavors to choose from. $5 for a scoop of ice cream is a bit high but its Ben & Jerry's in Newport what do you expect.

The ice cream there was out of this world. The servers were very friendly and understanding. They were able to safely accommodate our child's nut allergies happily.
No response to my “Hey, how’s it going?” from the clearly disgruntled employee behind the counter as my significant other and I walked in to the empty shop. She didn’t even ask us for our order—all I got was a blank glare as she ducked back under the counter for a moment before grabbing my ice cream and leaving me at the chip reader. I didn’t even want to eat it as we left because of how miserable she was.. I ended up feeling sorry for her.

What vacation is complete without ice cream? There was a Ben & Jerry's down the street from our resort. Fortunately for as many times as we walked by it, we only had ice cream once.
