I find this Newport Creamery in Garden City fair. Not overly motivated when greeting the customer. I think this place needs to make sure that there is a person at the desk checking people in as they walk in. I do visit the one on Warwick Avenue. Staff is very friendly as the staff in Seekonk, Ma. Are as well.
Friendly staff, sticky highchairs... if you go somewhere like this thinking there won't be sticky highchairs though then you have other problems. We just came for ice cream my son was so excited to be able to dump his own toppings om his ice cream!!! Fun experiment. Only regret was not bringing jackets in, it was chilly! Nevermind the fact we were earing cold ice cream. Left shivering. Worth it.
Has not been able to get it right since Covid. Service is slow and restaurant is understaffed which they can’t help but they are hosting more parties than they can accommodate. Food arrives lukewarm. Saw a takeout couple ignored for ten minutes and then they left. My call ahead order had not been started yet at the promised time. I like creamery but will avoid until they straighten things out.
I went there for Mother’s Day yesterday just for a quick bite of ice cream with my family. I think your better off going to the window instead of inside. Service was so poor, very slow. My mother who is a diabetic almost past out due to how slow the service was. Mind you there was enough staff members onsite. It’s filled with too many teenagers who aren’t serious about their work ethic. The manager is older and was running around doing everything. I think they need to rehire half the staff. Look for individuals that are serious about working together and not fiddling there thumbs in the back taking up space.Team work is key and it’s just not there at this location. Don’t go here for any special occasion to dine even if just for ice cream you will be very disappointed.
I was very disappointed with the restaurant. They don't have a changing table in the restrooms. They sat us a a table with a dirty floor and the table was dirty as well. This is the wort Newport Creamery that I have been in. I will not be going there anytime soon. My plan is to call corporate tomorrow morning. Spent $70.00 and i was very disappointed with the entire service and restaurant, when I complained, I got an eye roll from waitress to manage.
After tonight’s experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning ever again which is very disappointing. I’ve been eating at Newport Creamery since I was a very little girl. It’s just not the same anymore. When I arrived with my children, the restaurant wasn’t busy. We were greeted and seated immediately but our table was soaking wet, so wet that we had to ask our waitress to dry it down so our hands and menus wouldn’t soak through. We got our drinks & food quickly but the food was disgusting. We ordered hotdogs, fries, burgers, mandarins and fish and chips … pretty simple meals. The food & fruit tasted old and spoiled. My husband asked if they had bowls of chili and we were told No, that you were out yet my daughter was able to order a chili hotdog? Although, when her hotdog arrived, it looked suspicious. She said it tasted like ketchup. They were out of crayons for the kids menus, out of ice cream flavors, and drinks …I think this is a problem with management. Despite the staff all appearing to be in their teens, they all appeared to be working diligently. My waitress looked exhausted. She was kind despite the demand from her. If I’m not mistaken, I believe I saw her helping the front which left us waiting about 25 minutes or more for her to check on us for the bill. I had to get up to go look for her. I was so turned off that we left to go eat ice cream someplace else. When we left, the line at the window picked up & was extremely long, so I understand that the restaurant may have experienced a rush due to the warm weather but we are heading into the Summer time. You’re known for being a family restaurant that serves Ice cream! I’ve never seen this place this unorganized in over 20 years.
Newport Creamery used to be a favorite of mine but this place (and the Warwick location) have really gone down hill. What used to be a easy place to go for a quick bite to eat now takes forever. I understand it’s hard have mostly teens as staff but the amount of people who are standing around while you are waiting for a refill or even just the bill is pretty frustrating. I keep giving Newport Creamery more chances hoping they will improve but every time I go I’m in the restaurant far too long waiting overly long for every little thing. I would much rather go to New York System down the road or even a drive thru style place because Newport Creamery just isn’t what it used to be.
A fine, but not great experience. Food was greasy and overpriced - $50+ for one adult and two kids, before tip. Any drive-through is a better value proposition.
Every time I have been here the service has been extremely slow even when its not crowded. Takes 30 minutes to get a ice cream
Ice cream was okay, part of my order was a tad wrong but not a big deal. 2 stars is mostly because 3 employees all saw me standing at the window (it was 65 degrees outside) and waited about 5 mins to wave me inside and tell me the window was closed, and then let me stand there for 20 entire minutes while making other orders (which is fine) but then cleaning and restocking supplies while chatting before taking my order. I don't know if they all assumed someone else had taken my order but not a single employee checked in 20 entire minutes with me standing RIGHT at the counter. I stood there the whole time thinking this has to be a joke. I was still pleasant and I tipped because I'm not a monster, but the slightly wrong order was the straw that broke that camels back. And I didn't even have it in me to bring the order back inside, I had already waited 40 mins total with 3 kids in the car, I just wanted to go home. Disappointed.
