Hands down the best Japanese restaurant in the area. Private dining rooms are great for small parties
Sushi and Hibachi is one of the best in the area. Half price sushi Sunday as well.
Most sushi rolls: Rockstar, etc.
For a Tuesday night ... I had to wait. That's good. Yet ... I was not forgotten. I learned I wasn't when the owner, I presumed, told me he would inform the reservationist (my wording) to handle seating me. When the reservationist appeared, and signed-in a couple, I stood to inform him I was not signed-in by the owner. He politely assured me, the owner had informed him and showed me I was listed ahead of the couple he just signed-in! When I was finished eating ... the owner approached me and asked if everything was OK. Impressive. When seated for my meal ... there was a delay in my order being taken but it wasn't because anyone wasn't hustling ... including the owner. Great service ... great staff. I like casual and I like simple... fresh and healthy too. I had two rolls ... one vegetarian (Avocado / Cucumber) and the other, a Shrimp Tempura. Perfect. I took note of the small fine touches ... particularly the napkin. Ambiance wise ... I enjoyed the chatter and rousing birthday celebration. People were enjoying themselves but not obtrusively. It's a casual place and a bit dated yet super clean. When passing through again ... I'll surely revisit.
We stopped by here after a trip to Hawley, PA. It’s an average Japanese restaurant run by Chinese chefs. The menu is pretty elaborate but the prices are pretty high. Out of several dishes we have ordered, we liked “out of control” roll. Not bad, but we would hardly return here. Perhaps our spoiled sushi palate (being from NYC) has to do with it.
We were traveling through Wilkes-Barre and needed a quick place for takeout. This was mid pandemic and they served our food safely, quickly and delicious-ly! :) We really appreciated a great meal on our long journey. Thank you!!!
The wait staff were gracious, and the hibachi chef was skillful and entertaining. Scallops and salmon were fresh and looked promising, but they were overcooked and doused with way too much soy sauce, so the result was food was too salty and overdone. Prices seemed moderate, but the add-ons (for brown rice versus white rice, and for seaweed versus regular salad) did add up. Noise levels were high and the atmosphere was frenetic, so it was hard to relax and enjoy our meal. A large group of 15 adults and children were celebrating a birthday, which created an especially hectic scene. The wine list was good; a number of excellent choices with reasonable prices. Based on other Trip Advisor reviews, were we had high hopes of a good experience, but the evening was a disappointment.
I was in town and decided to try Mirakuya for lunch. There were quite a few cars in the parking lot, which is always a good sign. I was immediately welcomed by the hostess and led to the sushi bar, where I asked to be seated. The height of the bar was a bit higher than I was used to, but still comfortable, and I was greeted by one of the sushi chefs right away. I ordered a MaiTai, which was delicious, along with a shumai appetizer and a Bear Creek Roll. While waiting, the sushi bar chef offered me a fried whitefish app, and it was amazing! I’d buy that next time I come! My shumai was good, typical. The Bear Creek Roll was beyond Scrumptious! Great lunch!
Had a wonderful lunch at the hibachi table!! Great food, fun atmosphere, always a fun time!! The staff is always so friendly and the kids really enjoy the way things are cooked. And trying to catch food is always a treat!!
We've been going to Mirakuya in Wilkes-Barre for many years and we always have a great experience. We stopped in Saturday and sat at the bar. We both had a few Kirin Ichibans and we split a hibachi lunch. We got the Steak and Chicken Hibachi Lunch Special for $12.95, it's steak, chicken, rice and vegetables for the main course but it also comes with a bowl of soup and a salad. Our food was excellent and the portions are huge. The staff was nice and very attentive as always. The manager Kevin always takes the time to stop and say hello. The restaurant and bar area were very clean. They have a full bar, regular tables, hibachi tables and a private room for events. The prices are reasonable and they have lots of off street parking.
