It was our first time eating there the waitress was absolutely wonderful loved her gave her a great tip. But the food was lacking my food was great but there wasn't much there for how much they actually charge for it just like my husband's dinner 5 tiny pieces of meatloaf. He asked for potatoes and mac and cheese and only got the mac and cheese. Tiny tiny tiny serving of corn asked for extra corn on the side didn't even fill the bowl they gave. I really I'm disappointed for all the hype people give.
I have always been very happy with the meals I've had at Anthracite. However, this past weekend I was quite disappointed. French onion soup had way to much bread, not enough broth. Chicken quesadillas were burnt around the edges. My daughter's nachos were slightly burnt and consisted of a huge glob of hardened cheese on top. She could not eat them. Hoping it was just a bad night for the cook.
My wife and I went there Saturday and both had the seafood Mac and cheese, it was outstanding, my only complaint is we only had three pieces of shrimp in each dish, please consider adding more shrimp for what we paid, otherwise portions were great and we had a great dining experience as usual when we go there.
The food was delicious! The atmosphere was very nice and the staff was friendly.
Very good pretzel chicken honey mustard salad. My husband had the crab mac and cheese. All really yummy and super service.
The Anthracite Cafe was a mixed experience. The bar/restaurant was mostly crowded at 7 p.m. on a Friday night, and quite noisy. My party of two had reservations, and was seated promptly once we entered. The server was a pleasant woman, and a large party next to us had a different server who was very attentive to their requests.Although my girlfriend and I ordered two cheeseburgers, we had to wait approximately 45 minutes before our meals arrived. Maybe there wasn't enough staff, maybe the establishment was very busy, but I found the wait to be a bit excessive. The Middleswarth Cheeseburger -- featuring the famed local barbeque Middleswarth potato chips -- will appeal to the local clientele, as the burger was supposed to be stuffed with Middleswarth crumbles, along with cheddar cheese. However, that didn't prove to be true, as there was no cheese oozing from the burger, and the crumbles rested on top of a slice of cheese. The burger also wasn't topped with bacon as described. I chose not to bring this to the attention of my server because I didn't want to prolong my hunger by waiting for what could have been a long time. Instead of the toasted brioche roll, I opted for a pretzel roll, which was an additional 99 cents and worth the extra money. Although the chip crumbles provided additional flavor, there was no balance. Sometimes I could discern the barbeque flavor, but mostly not. What was supposed to be a sandwich designed to invite the local customer proved flat overall. The Texas Burger on the other hand, was very good. That bacon on it was tasty, and the barbeque sauce was tangy and flavorful. This was also served on a fresh pretzel roll. The steak fries were very good, and I liked the fact that they weren't salty, allowing me to add salt to my liking. The menu boasted a wide assortment of wings, which I will definitely try should I visit again. I would try and go a bit earlier so as to avoid the wait time. The establishment does add an additional 3.99% charge if you use a debit/card. This isn't a hidden charge, but clearly posted as one walks in.
Delicious everything was great .Big portions. Beer can be colderCrab legs were endless and you got your own old bay shaker
We went to Anthracite for Bacon Week. Our server, Jess, was as awesome as our food. I highly recommend and look forward to going back real soon.
Absolutely one of my favs. Drive 40 minutes to get there, awesome food, bartender and owner. Warm and welcoming patron! Luv this place!!!!!
Stopped by Anthracite last night and was not disappointed! My guest and I both ordered burgers, and they were HUGE! The bun was a bit overkill but the flavor was excellent. My fries were a bit cold which was a bummer but they were still crisp and flavorful. Staff was attentive and everyone seemed to be having a good time. It is a bar, though, and it was quite dimly lit to have a meal. Overall, I would definitely return - probably to try the wings!
